24 in Region 1 on Sept. 17th

http://www.coronaproductions.com/tp/...ops.html#24dvd

"Word from a top secret bunker on the FOX lot has the real-time series 24 released on DVD on September 17, 2002. This would be just in time for the second season of the show, and no doubt both the new season and the DVD of the first will be highly popular. We'll keep you up to date when information on features and price become available, and let you know as soon as the set is available for pre-order."

This is awesome news! I'd definitely buy season 1.

Just found this at the Digital Bits:

In other news, Fox is working to release a DVD version of their hit series 24 sometime before the year is out. A Region 2 release has already been confirmed, and The New York Daily News has an online story that refers to an eventual Region 1 release. According to the article, Fox Television Entertainment Group Chairman Sandy Grushow has indicated that "a DVD version will also soon be available in the U.S., which will help offset the show's expensive production budget."

Awesome! One only wonders if there will be any extras, and why is it so much less expensive than the X-Files boxed sets? Either way, I'm all for it.

I recently heard from a friend in a chat room I frequent that:

"the 24th episode disc has all 3 endings that they shot depending on the fate of the show. you can see the other 2 that werent used. and the commercial time is filled in with footage too."

I can't confirm this just yet, of course, but those would be some awesome additions!

Also, I just checked the UK release and found there's now 2 releases, fullscreen VHS and widescreen DVD. Hopefully, the Region 1 release will be OAR as well...

I have only watched a couple episodes of 24. They were down right awesome. They would have been better if I knew what was going on. I will probly buy the DVD Set so I can see the whole first season & I can't wait for the second season to start, I'm going to try and watch all of the shows this time around.

this is great, I only was able to catch the first two months of the show, after that I wasn't able to watch them and I fell way behind. I can't wait to see how everything turned out.

I do hope they include the other two episodes that were not shown. I'd also be interested in seeing what footage was cut for commercials.

September cannot come fast enough!

24 and Monster's Inc. all on the same day.

Cover art for the Region 2 release is out now:

I wonder how similar the Region 1 cover art will look...

There's a few extra features listed:

Alternate ending
Season 2 preview

A new version of season one is coming May 20th. I'll probably pass for a couple reasons.

1. Lame box.
2. Not in Blu-Ray.

While the packaging is lame (and it won't match the later seasons of the show ), I'll gladly double-dip for some new extras.

On a hunch, I thought I'd email Fox to see if this show is planned for blu-ray. The results were not as I had hoped.
