Deadwood

I'm hearing so much about that cable series DEADWOOD...I've got to check it out. But I like watching this stuff on DVD...any rumors?

Whatever happened to CARNIVALE? Is it still running. I'd be interested in that one too.

Technically, this should stay in the NOW PLAYING discussion for Deadwood.

Anyway, I'm SURE it will hit disc eventually. HBO tends to run a series through a second or third time before they do a disc release... remember, their primary goal is for people to subscribe to the channel. There is no way they will devalue this excellent series so quickly. But when it does come out, it will be at the top of my list.

CARNIVALE is supposed to be back for a second season when its time comes around again. HBO will finish off Sopranos, wait about a month, then come on with the next season of SIX FEET UNDER. SFU will run for its thirteen weeks, then there will probably be a full season of THE WIRE before CARNIVALE gets its turn. I don't think HBO has run it a second full time yet, so that will probably happen halfway between the end of the first run and the start of the second season.

You're right, I haven't even seen Carnivale in reruns on any of the other HBOs. Maybe it will come to DVD when season 2 is on air, it was signed onto another contract and is either still being written or started filming now (I guess that would be called production, huh?)

I loved it, as my posts have shown. Unfortunately, we may be in the vast minority. But at least we're getting another season.

Best damned show of last season. We may be in the minority, lar, but we'll beat the majority's ass any ol' day of the week.

Deadwood was the second best show on TV last year- second to the Shield of course. I will definetely buy the dvds even if they are overpriced as most hbo sets are IMHO.

$99.98 ! Jeez, that's a bit high. I know it will probably go for $69.98, but still. Better start saving now.

It's an HBO set. They're always expensive. I think they set their minimum retail price at $100 for everything now.

Eh, won't be getting this then. I haven't bought any of The Sopranos seasons, nor any of Star Trek TNG or The X-Files, all because I don't feel like having my wallet ass-raped. If I can buy Buffy and Angel and other shows for $40, then there is no goddam reason why I can't get the rest at that same price. So, unless I find a copy on eBay for $50 I'll just keep my money and tell HBO to suck me off once again.

Re: Deadwood

I can't wait for season two, and especially the DVD release of season one. Those two hours on Sunday nights (Sopranos/Deadwood) were the best two hours on TV and I'm looking forward to them in 2005! Take care.

I love this show, but I'll wait for a deal. I got ALL my Sopranos for under $50 and they counted towards recieving free CDs or DVDs. I'll do the same here.

HBO shows are just as good as movies for me, at least so far, and 12 hours of movie could easily cost $70, which is what I just payed for Deadwood. Doesn't really bother me, plus the packaging is damn nice.

Anyway, picked this up tonight and it's a damn fine show so far. Brad Douriff is amazing as the doctor, the best character/actor on the show so far. I know "you know who" dies, but I don't know when. I like how they're teasing me with it. It's no Sopranos, as I said elsewhere, but it's very good.

Only negative would be the theme... It's not catchy or exciting at all really, and I like that kind of music usually.
