The 4400

Did anyone catch the premiere of The 4400 on USA, last Sunday? I wasn't sure what to expect, but I really liked what I saw. Has an X-Files kind of feel to it. I'm looking forward to the next episode coming up on Sunday.

I know it is a limited series, but I hope the rest of the show can deliver.

I really enjoyed the pilot. The opening with everyone firing nukes was pretty...uhm...is chilling the right word? The wife is watching the pilot now while the new episode is recording.

I was pleasantly surprised. I do hope they have some kind of resolution or storyline progression rather than falling into the "we will never give the audience any hope of ever having any questions resolved" trap that ruins so many shows for me.

Speaking of which, who sings the song in the show? "Bye bye baby, don't be long...I worry about you, when you're gone"

I would like to download...ermmm...buy the album.

I watched tonight's episode, and I have to say I'm diggin' this show...it has really sucked me in.

BTW, the name of the song is "Worry about you" by Ivy.

I had been meaning to look if anyone had posted about this series....so far...so good. I really like the idea, it's one of those "Crap, why didn't I think of it" ideas....lol
It is well written, and just creepy enough to be scary but not "in your face" with the effects. Here's hoping.....

I'm really liking it so far (and it's a nice lead-in to The Dead Zone, which I love). The idea behind it is cool enough, and the acting is pretty decent.

I know it's a limited series, but how many episodes will it run exactly? And is USA Networks and the producers of this hoping that it'll get decent enough ratings and become an ongoing series, or will it have a 'definite end'? It definitely has potential to be an ongoing series, what with 4,400 returnees out there waiting to have their powers emerge and to be investigated.

Not sure, but I think I read it was going to be 5 episodes (not sure if that includes that 2 hour pilot episode). I enjoyed the pilot, and recorded the 2nd episode that I'll likely watch later this week.

As I understand it, it will be 6 episodes long. I read somewhere, that if ratings were good, it would be continued...but I don't know if that's the official word or just some fan's hopeful speculation.

EDIT: limacharliewhis could be right. I read it was 6, but that could've been incorrect. The show's website does not indicate how long the series will run.

I watched the pilot and the second episode, but I can't say I really liked it. First of all the most interesting part of the show, the 'how do these "out siders" fit back into society and what are the ramifications of that, was alread done in Alien Nation --much better.

But my real problem is how everyone in the show seems to be a complete ass hole. Using that as a plot device just leaves me cold. Maybe if the whole "super power" thing goes somewhere interesting the show will have something original to watch, otherwise I see it going downhill fast, at least for me.

Maybe I'm just too darn picky, but the sorry state of what passes for science fiction TV these days makes me sad.

I got the mini-series for Fathers Day and watched it yesterday. VERY enjoyable. Fills a bit of the mysterious science fiction gap left by The X-Files. I haven't watched a single episode of season 2 yet but I'm looking forward to it.

Does anyone else get a big Scientology vibe from the whole "4400 Center" thing? I got that feeling from it before, but the last episode really made it much more obvious, with Collier, the pop star, and the "Key" levels.

I really like this series, but this is one of the worst parts for me. I realize watching the nukes fly into the sky then detonate is for dramatic effect, but are we really supposed to believe we can watch the smoke trail from the missles up to the target, then effect the clouds on detonation, And only moments later we see the object traveling past the moon. It just set a bad tone in the begining for me.

However the conecpt these people are dealing with is an interesting take on abductions. And the little girl is amazing, definately carrying the cast.

It was a neat dramtic effect but it was poorly done. I think maybe a bad edit? The "comet" passing the moon should have been shown before the missles were launched obviously.
I just finished watching season 1 on DVD last night and I gotta say I was quite surprised the reveal came so soon. I guess they didn't expect to get picked up for a second season or even BECOME a series.
