What programs are best to view in the HD TV format and why?

As I don't yet have a HD format TV (but intend getting one soon), can any readers who'd be vastly more knowledgeable on this topic than I ever will be, please weigh in on what event/s you reckon are best to view in the high definition format and please say why, preferably without using ultra-technical jargon.

What I mean by 'events', is anything that’s presented as it occurs live, anything pre-recorded, or any particular TV show/s or film/s.

24 is great. Any sporting event is made better by HDTV. Basketball, in particular, to me seems to benefit a great deal. Most shows seem to be going HDTV now, so I would say most of them are worth it. I'm just a bgi fan of 24.

Sports viewing is a slam-dunk in HD. Watch a football game in HD, and you'll swear you've never really seen a football game before.

I would agree 100%. And if you like golf, DO NOT miss the Masters. 90% of the coverage is in HD and it is beautiful (and has been without commercials the last few years). Unfortunately, the Masters is the only tournament that's in HD.

Yep, watching football in high-def is almost a religious experience. Also, Discovery Channel has some beautiful programs. But, as far as network stuff goes, I'd say Desperate Housewives is the prettiest show I watch, with loads of colors. Supernatural also looks great, but this time with the great blacks.
