FOX plans to release web only episodes of Family Guy for about $1.99 each starting in 2006. Whether these will be raunchier and unedited or the same near-R Rated adult fair as we see weekly on FOX remains to be seen. Few details have been released and there is not a solid business plan in place yet.

It would be bad marketing for FOX to ONLY release these to the web. I would imagine at some point we'll see a DVD release of these episodes as well.

I don't get the push for unrated Family Guy. Why? Are there really that many jokes that are being stopped as is? Do you really need to see Peter naked? I keep thinking what the Simpsons would be like unrated and I imagine something akin to Showtime--"We can show nipples, so nipples on everything! That peach isn't nippled yet!"

Actually the FCC has made them cut out what we would probably view as some pretty harmlous stuff.

There was an episode where Peter was going to set the record for most coins swallowed. In that episode he went to the bathroom to take a shit. While sitting on the toilet you heard the sound of change falling out like you'd hear them come from a slot machine.
For some reason the FCC wanted that cut out.
(I think I have those details right)
