What show/set is the best?

I got a 20.00 Wal-Mart gift card for Christmas this year, and when I saw this sale , I knew that I had to take advantage of it, because the prices are great. The only problem is that I've never seen any episodes of any of those shows. Can anyone give me a recommendation as to which I should buy? Thanks!

Damn, there's some great series there!

If you want one of the best crime dramas ever made, then get The Shield. Brilliant writing, acting, directing... just awesome.

If you want to laugh your ass off, then get Arrested Development. If you look at some thread around here, and at various media publications, this series is highly recommended by almost everyone... it just can't get any ratings. Seriously, I don't remember any series since maybe the 4th thru 6th (or so) seasons of The Simpsons that made me laugh this much.

BUT, I would probably go with Wonderfalls, because with that, you'll get a complete series. It's well-written (very Buffy-like), funny at times, poignant at others, has a really good cast... but the good thing with this set is that it has the 13 episodes they shot, and it does come to a satisfying conclusion at the end of it all. It won't leave you hanging in any way.

So, by the fact that you can get a damn good viewing experience, and a complete viewing experience, with Wonderfalls, I'd go with that one, but the other two are equally as worthy.

I've only seen 10 of the 19 sets listed there, so I'll comment on those I've seen. The Shield is solid, realistic dramatic action with cops, probably what I'd recommend the most, but you don't have too many titles like that, so it might not be your thing.

The Buffy and Angel series are both Joss Whedon titles that are great overall, but the first seasons start somewhat slow in comparison to future seasons. Somewhat recommended, but not unless you plan to buy the other seasons also.

Millennium is really cool, with Lance Henriksen and Terry O'Quinn, dealing with foretold apocalyptic events, a great companion series similar to the X-Files. I wish this series lasted longer.

Roswell is pretty good teen drama mixed with sci-fi elements, almost like Smallville, along with the similar teen angst and love triangles.

Lone Gunmen, X-Files spinoff that didn't really live up to its billing. Average recommendation.

Tru Calling, OK series that got better when Jason Priestley was added to the cast.

Dark Angel, tons of Jessica Alba, mixed in sci-fi environment that made Season 1 better than expected. Better-than-average recommendation.

To summarize my recommendations in order of preference:

Shield
Millennium
Dark Angel
Roswell
Buffy
Tru Calling
Angel
Lone Gunmen

Haven't seen enough of the rest to give opinions.

I'm going old school and say Murder One....for those who do not remember this was the show that followed one trial for one whole season, an idea that was pretty new for the time, I believe it was the mid-90's. I enjoyed the show, but have not seen it since then and really have no idea how well it holds up today.

I just got back from Wal-Mart. Found the display easily, which had everything on that site...except for Firefly (which I wanted to buy). I decided to go to the electronics department to see if they had any on the racks. They had none, so I decided to go check out (I had some other stuff to buy), when, right next to the register and the cashier on a counter was a copy of the DVD. I asked him if it was being held or anything, and he said no, and gave it to me. So, I got what I wanted.

Not to be rude, but haven't any of you seen the best show on television?

Please, buy THE SHIELD Seasons 1 and 2 and then thank me later...just be ready to spend more cash to get Seasons 3 and 4.

Definitely a good recommendation. I haven't seen S4 yet, though... really looking forward to it.
