Television show that most resembles Stargate?

Hey all, I have been wondering since I am a hugh Stargate SG:1 and Atlantis fan, what other shows are similair? I was wondering because I have no more episodes to watch and need something that is as good or close to it. I have been meaning to make a topic but keep forgetting. I heard Star Trek is similiar in ways but I have seen bits and peices of movies and didnt really dig it that much, but any suggestions to help me out would be greatly appreciated.

Give Farscape a try, far better writing than SG:1. Or give Battlestar a try, friggin amazing show.

Aside from being a "space" show, I really wouldn't compare "Battlestar Galactica" to the "Stargate" shows at all. Yeah, it's amazing... but the styles simply don't jive in the slightest. But I agree about "Farscape".

i wasn't saying it resembles closely, but i figured that if he liked stargate he'd probably find it an easy switch to getting into Battlestar as well.

It's a genre likability. I tell everone if the like tv to get the BSG series and watch the broadcasts. I can't see how any sci fi fan can't like BSG.

As far as not being similar I think the 2 shows have a great contrast to one another. Usually SG takes the cartoonish side of sci fi and is great for some laughs and thats why I love it. But BSG is always very serious and is much more character drive and at some points you could almost see it as being real.

I could definately watch a couple hours of SG-1 (not an Atlantis fan) and then easily make the switch to BSG for a bit. It's nice to have 2 shows taking 2 completely different looks at 1 genre on 1 network.

It's not similar but you'd definately like it.

Damn, good thing Best Buy didn't have Farscape, because I didn't have 100+ bucks for a season. Is it truly worth the 100+ dollars? I am almost certain I will own both shows in the future, but I only have around 60 bucks which is just enough for season 1 of BSG. Also is Farscape over or are they going to continue more seasons?

No farscape has 4 seasons plus the Peacekeeper Wars mini-series.

BSG is ongoing. I don't remember farscape being so expensive, but if you have been watching the current season of SG1 with Ben Browder you'll fucking love Farscape, which was such a great role for BB in that. The problem with Farscape is that it's SO out there that it turned people off, it's also way linear, so if you miss one episode you sorta miss out on character arcs that affect stuff seasons down the line. It's great, I was so depressed when SciFi ditched Farscape in favor of "Pterodactyl" or "Some shitty movie staring Antonio Saboto Jr" or whatever.

If you go for the new "Starburst Editions" of Farscape, it ends up being like half the price for a season and you get more features.
