Was that Ben Kinglsey I saw in that trailer? He better be playing the same character from Sexy Beast or I'll be dissapointed, lol.

I mean as cool as this show is, is an almost 2 year break between seasons really justified?

No. It's absurd. I have just about lost all the respect I had for that show.

I mean what bugs me is how much that cast gets paid, how little show they produce, how many awards they win. When there's shows out there that deliver every season with the same episode count year after year, 2 years delay is absurd, totally agree with you there.

I'll watch the Sopranos, but whatever, let it go HBO. That or stop cancelling the good series you have *COUGH* Carnivale.

I've been watching the first season of Deadwood on DVD, and I have to say that it is an amazingly good show, and really blows the doors off of The Sopranos.

Well the Sopranos Seasons 1 and 2 are just brilliant, then it was more of the same, and now in Season 6 it just feels like, "okay almost at the end, just end it so we can move on with our lives"

Well I have to post because you guys are bitching about one of my favorite shows... I don't care about the long break since the show is good enough to wait for. I also think the comments that the show went at all downhill are silly... Season Four didn't have enough violence for people, so they say the show went downhill... The drama is as good as it's ever been, especially in season five which was awesome.

And Deadwood, while a good show, is nowhere near The Sopranos level of quality.

2 years for a season is absurd, no matter how good the show. It's not like the cast has been doing anything in between, except counting their money.

Violence, or lack thereof, wasn't what ruined season 4 and 5 for me, the dull writing was.

Season four was slower paced then the three seasons before it but I thought season five picked right back up with some great stories.
And you're right, the cast hasn't been doing much the past couple of years. I'm curious to see how far time has progressed between five and six once it gets going because the kid that plays Anthony looks very different now, then he did during season five.

So you think the show has gone downhill, but you still want more of it, and faster? Weird. Anyway, I don't think the show has gone at all downhill, as I said. Season four was a slower season that concentrated on the family and other things, less exciting for some people I guess, but still an amazing show. Season Five was the best one since two, I think. If season six is indeed the end, I don't mind waiting, since we're sure to get a quality product. Hell, I'll be waiting even longer than you, since I won't see it until DVD.

I do think the show has sort of become weak, and when you draw out the release of a tv show to 2 years it puts a bigger weight on the shoulder of each season. "it's been two years, it's gotta be great!". It just boggles my mind why they cancel stuff like Carnivale which wasn't a show that took 2 years to make each season.

I don't care how good the show, when other tv shows have done 2-3 seasons in the time Sopranos has done only 1, I start to think that's a little absurd. Again it's not like the actors have been out there doing film projects in the meantime.

See? Here is something we agree on. I don't want to bash on The Sopranos, as even weak Sopranos is better than most other shows' top notch stuff, but I still miss the greatness that was seasons one and two.

And as for Deadwood, it more than kills The Sopranos as it stands now.

Sorry, Damian, let me rephrase "it's not like the cast has been doing any GOOD movies inbetween seasons"

Reaver, agreed, same with Battlestar, even sub-par episodes are still miles ahead of most shows out there right now. It's like pizza, even if it's not good pizza, it's still Pizza.

Indeed. It was really more meant as a joke anyway.

There are no bad episodes of Battlestar Galactica, just different levels of greatness. (now that's a signiture worthy quote if I ever saw one )

Damian, I know you were kidding. I am looking forward to season 6, just wish they wouldn't stretch it out so long. Oh well.

Battlestar tonight, with fighter combat, OMG!

I continue to not understand why the time issue is a factor at all... I could see if it were your favorite show, and you were just aching for more, that you might say "please hurry up I'm dying for more Sopranos," but you're not really saying that. Would I like it sooner than later? Sure, it's one of my top 5 shows... Does it affect the quality of the show that it takes longer, am I going to attack them for taking longer? Nope.

I just don't get it, I guess... Personally I think our TV should be more like British TV, where a show has a first "series," then, if good and popular enough, it comes back for another when time, story, and actors are all right. HBO seems to agree with that.

And, just to poke at Reaver again because I enjoy it, I repeat that I really don't get the Deadwood worship. It's a good little western, but it's nowhere near the amazing dramatic heights that Sopranos and Six Feet Under attain.
