Deal or No Deal

Now it is a game show in prime time which I never watch. I figured it was going to be another Weakest link or Who wants to be a millionaire type of thing. Well I was wrong. Theres no trivia, theres no time limit, and frankly it's a huge game of undeniable, random chance.

I caught this playing on a cable station last week before or during the olympics and loved it. For only 2 things, the randomness of it and to see how greedy people really are. Anyone else watching/liking/hating this show but me? Someone has to be. If they put it up against American Idol I be it would tromp it.

I think it will get old quick, but it can be fun depedning on the contestant. I'm usually either rooting for or against them, depending on their attitude.

I saw a few minutes of it the other night. I saw a girl picking boxes to open, therefore elimating the chances of her winning the money amount inside. Is that all it is? How is the dollar amount won determined?

There's something like 30 cases, and at the very beginning the contestant picks one. The rest of the show is them picking random cases to open whcih all have values between $0.01 and $1 million (or not $2 or 3 million). After every five cases they open, they offer them money to quit based on what cases are left, basically trying to tempy a la Let's Make a Deal. When the get down to just a few cases left, they only have to open one before getting the next offer.

It's really a show of greed and kind of gambling. Some people push their luck and go from an offer of $200,000 down to $20,000. While that's still good, obviosuly, there's still that feeling they just lost $180,000.
