The guy with the Vin Diesel avatar was right...

Deep Space Nine is the best Star Trek show, you were right, and I was wrong to question you. Watching a few eps from all the shows over the course of a few weeks really makes you see how amazingly well put together DS9 is compared to the others.

I don't remember your name, or what thread we had this talk in, but you were right, and I wanted you to know.

If by DS9 you meant TNG, then you are correct.

I was gonna say the same, except instead of TNG I was gonna put Enterprise.

Yeah, yeah, I know it's the bastard stepchild and the black sheep, but I loved it.

Exactly. I don't see any DS9 movies popping up or even any of the characters in the movies. Worf and there little ship in First Contact doesn't count.

Hey Reaver, that was my stand as well until this week. Watch a few TNG episodes, then a few DS9 episodes, right after each other. The upgrade in drama and acting is pretty amazing.

Overall I agree with you. I think DS9 is the better show. However, I still have more favorite TNG episodes, despite DS9 having my favorite episode ever of Trek. I don't think there's a huge leap in quality between the two shows once you remove the first two seasons of TNG from the equation.

Really?

Where is DS9's "Best of Both Worlds"?
Where is DS9's "Darmok"?
Where is DS9's "The Inner Light"?

I never saw anything on DS9 that could hold a candle to these episodes. (Don't get me wrong, I loved DS9. Hell, I even liked Voyager and Enterprise. But I don't think they can compare to TNG.)

"The Visitor"
A better episode, in my opinion. Not to mention all the other great episodes.

Homefront/Paradise Lost
Past Tense
Trials And Tribble-ations
The Adversary
In Purgatory's Shadow/By Inferno's Light
Who Mourns For Morn?

All of those are great episodes. I don't think a show has to beat another in singular episodes to be better. I think Buffy has better singular episodes than Angel, but yet I think Angel is the better of the two shows.

No no, Troi showed cleavage in every episode of TNG. Delicious cleavage.

And I agree with elwood731. My favorite Trek episode ever, "The Visitor," is a DS9 show. It's actually my favorite episode of any TV show.

Man was Troi ugly... I mean, I'm sorry, but it needs to be said. Maybe it was an 80's thing.

Tell ya the truth, I've not watched enough DS9 to really have an opinion on which is better. I was just havin' a go atcha. I know that I liked the few that I saw, but when it was originally on I thought it was just a weak Babylon 5 wannabe, so I didn't give it the attention it probably deserved. I will at some point on DVD when I eventually own all the Star Trek shows.

Season One is at my Wal-Mart for $50. The other six are still $100+ on walmart.com though, unfortunately.
