Any thoughts on "Over There"?

I never saw this while it was on FX and I know it's been cancelled, but the 13 episodes produced are being released on DVD tomorrow. Wondering if it is a good blind buy.

Even if the show is pretty good, I tend to stay away from shows that got concelled and thus have no real resolution. I hate not seeing an end for the characters involved. This keeps me away from Carnivale and Dead Like Me, and kept me from Firefly until Serenity was released.

At first, it was pretty good...dealing with some very serious issues, but after a while the show turned into a "mission of the week" kind of thing and didn't really offer much substance.
