The Chinese may have a long memory but apparently it's not very good because they're about to introduce the most destructable human being into their country....Jack Bauer

They might as well just nuke themselves back to the stone age and save him the trouble.

Here's a little of potential info on the sixth season that TV Guide ran from the executive producer (and I'll put in in spoiler tags just in case anyone wants to try to go into season 6 completely blind next season):

Spoiler (Highlight or Triple Click to Read):
24 Isn't Ordering Chinese
Despite how Monday's season finale left off, the sixth season of Fox's 24 will not pick up with Jack Bauer riding a slow boat to China as a political prisoner. "I don’t think much of the story will take place in China," executive producer Howard Gordon tells the trade mag TV Week. "It's just an impractical thing given the real-time constraints, because it would take Jack 16 hours — three-quarters of the [season] — to get back to L.A." If Jack's imprisonment isn't the hook for 24's January '07 return, what is? Howard shared no details, noting, "I just started writing the first [episode] this morning" — meaning only two or three main characters have been killed thus far.

That's certainly disappointing if true.

Just like "24" to drudge up some potential and then just piss it away.

Here's hopin'.

I believe I predicted the spoiler in bjh_18's post way back in the season 5 thread.

How bout this...

Season 6 opens and we find Jack being rescued months later on American soil from the Chinese...

Except later we discover Bauer to be BRAINWASHED (ala Manchurian Candidate) and now working FOR the Chinese.

Jack must now battle mentally through the brainwashing and show his eternal loyalty to the US....or be sacrificed for it once and for all!

I should write for TV...

Yes the next Brandon Braga, no new ideas.

I have faith in the 24 writers. But bjh_18s spoiler tag only points out the obvious. If he goes to china theres no show.

The whole brainwashed return of Jack Bauer-thing may actually not be that unlikely to happen. The plot of The Man With The Golden Gun (the book) was actually pretty similiar as I recall - James Bond gets brainwashed by the russians to kill M, he fails, is returned to his love for England and is sent on a mission to prove his loyalty - killing Scaramanga.

I mean think about how much other stuff 24 has borrowed from the Bond franchise. This could happen.

Couldn't they just have it start taking place sixteen hours after the end of last season?

Stupid ex president! Standing in front of a big window like that! Didn't he read the freakin' script!

I'm just not gonna speculate much on the up coming season cause there are sooooo many directions they could go. I just keep repeating 7 months to 24, 5 months to Battlestar Galactica, 3 months til House.

Regina King (Ray) is joining the cast of Fox's 24, while D.B. Woodside is being bumped up to series regular, reports Variety.

In a Kennedyesque twist, Woodside -- who plays Wayne Palmer, brother of assassinated President David Palmer -- will begin season six as the newly elected president of the United States.

King, meanwhile, joins as heretofore unseen Palmer sister Angela, a powerful lawyer with an advocacy group.

24 begins its sixth season in January.

I doubt Greg Itzen (President Logan) will be in prison. I am wondering if he will serve like a Nixonian reminder of a disgraced former President. But he is bitter and acts in a way like Sherri Palmer, as one that is more trouble and still works on behalf of those hidden backers.

Spoken like someone who has nothing construtive to say about the show, good or bad.

Yeah I'm sure Logan won't be in jail either. I'm betting he'll be much more usefull trying to find Jack and use him, or get him tossed of a cliff or something.

Spoiler (Highlight or Triple Click to Read):
TV Guide’s tireless Michael Ausiello reports that Eric Balfour will return to his pre-Chloe season-one role of computer geek Milo Pressman on “24” - reminding us all of those early days of Nina Myers, Jamey Farrell, Alan York and a bat-wielding senator David Palmer.
Chloe’s foreigner ex-husband will return from last season, according to Ausiello, who also says “Deep Space Nine’s” Alexander Siddig will play a bad guy.

The current print edition of TV Guide, meanwhile, offers some plot points. Producer-director John Cassar tells the magazine the season begins in the aftermath of a successful terrorist act that will likely remind viewers of the early hours of Sept. 11, 2001. Jack Bauer, apparently, couldn’t prevent the attack because he’s a been a mess, having undergone two months of torture at the hands of the Chinese.

If Jack was in Chinese hands only two months, this suggests he’s probably been back in the states for quite a while as season six begins. For those who haven’t heard, the White House of season six is in the hands of the Democrats, with David Palmer’s brother Wayne the commander-in-chief.
Fox begins broadcasting new episodes of "24" in early January.

looks like Jacks extraction from China might be the subject of the long talked about 24 Film
