Fall 2007 TV Season
The new TV season is almost upon us, so it seems appropriate to have a general topic of what shows people are interested in, and what new shows that people are anticipating the most.
There's actually not many new shows that I may add to my viewing schedule, as a lot of shows that I watch are returning, so there's not as many new entries in comparison to previous years. At least that's how it seems to me. Probably the most hyped one that is getting a fair amount of press is the Bionic Woman on NBC, scheduled to air on Wednesdays at 9PM. My main interest in the show is that Katee Sackhoff from Battlestar Galactica will be a regular on the show. In the same timeslot on ABC is Private Practice, the Grey's Anatomy spin-off. I thought that 2-hour pilot/Grey's episode was OK, so I'm not sure what type of following will carry over to this new show. I've read that a couple of the characters have already been re-cast with different actors. Also in the same timeslot on the same day on CW is Gossip Girl, which has been getting the most hype for that network. Only other show that seems promising so far might be K-Ville on Fox on Mondays at 9PM. I'll likely watch the pilot, but since it's in the same timeslot as Heroes, I'll probably be recording it for the rest of the season if it lasts that long. That's about all I'm aware of that looks interesting so far. I'm sure I'll add more as the TV sneak preview articles come out over the next 2-3 weeks.

Tonight's 9PM slot will be interesting tonight, as there are 3 new shows in that slot that I'd like to watch: Bionic Woman, Gossip Girl, and Private Practice.
I enjoyed the pilot of Gossip Girl last week (Kristen Bell is hot even when she's only doing voiceovers ), but since CW reruns this on Sundays, I'll likely wait until then to watch this on a weekly basis. As much of a fan as I am of Grey's Anatomy, I'll likely be recording Private Practice each week, as I've read mixed reviews of the pilot. I will be watching the much-hyped Bionic Woman tonight, and hopefully, it will be worthy of watching each week. And if anyone misses it, it will be rerunning on other NBC-owned cable stations like the Sci-Fi channel, USA, and Bravo.

A new show called "Life" comes on tonight at 10:00. It's a cop show. I'm mainly interested in watching it because Damien Lewis is in it and I really liked him in Band of Brothers.

Wednesdays have turned into the busiest TV night for me. It'll be interesting to see what survives the first month. Some show called Nashville that was on Fridays has already been axed (I think it was a reality show on Fox).

It's not new but right behind Battlestar Galactica it was the best show on tv. No really don't try and argue with this one.
House M.D. on tuesday nights.

I love House. One of my favorite shows.
While watching Life (which was interesting, but kind of strange - Damian's character anyway), I was pleasantly surprised to see the guy who played Sgt. Randleman from Band of Brothers was also in it. Probably just a one episode appearance.

There's only one show on the old-time broadcast networks that I'll be watching, and that's Prison Break.
The rest of the stuff is pretty much humdrum programs, of course IMO. Whoops, forgot to include Family Guy, that's two. I did like the Candid Camera rip-off show that ran over the summer, what was that called? Just for Laughs, I think. Actually it was a better take on the Candid Camera style of comedy than even the original Candid Camera. Other than that, it's only Football and the occassional PBS show that's interesting, so I'll just keep getting and watching movies most every night. Got to see two Westerns from the 70s last night that I'd never seen before that were pretty good. Maybe I'll eventually get to see all the giallo horror films I've missed so far by not watching broadcast TV.

While watching TV tonight, I saw a commercial for a show called Moonlight. I think it's a vampire show. It comes on Friday nights. I may check it out.

Either way, nothing I've seen or read about "Moonlight" makes me think it'll be anything but dull.

Well, the TV season for new shows is not off to a good start. Only Bionic Woman and Private Practice are considered hits in the first complete week.
Here were the ratings of the shows in one article I read, for what advertisers consider the key 18-49 demographic: Bionic Woman (5.7 ratiing/14 share) Private Practice (5.2/13) Big Shots (4.5/12) Life (4.0/11) Dirty Sexy Money (3.6/10) Journeyman (3.5/9) Cane (2.9/8) I haven't found a complete listing of the ratings yet, as they're now being delayed this year to include DVR viewership in the following 7 days as part of the ratings. So these above ratings are for those who watched it live.
