Friday Night Lights (Season 2)

Welcome back FNL, welcome back.

It looks like the big story hook this season will be Landry and Tyra, which I gotta say is off to a great start. I did not see that ending coming at all for the premiere last night. Holy fucking crap.

Man I am so glad that FNL is BACK!!!!!!!

Spoilers for the premire!

Amen. I'm so glad I found this show on DVD; the premire once again proved that this is by far the best thing on television. Landry and Tyra's murder storyline was shocking; I had heard of a contriversial twist with them, but no WAY was I expecting that. It could become a really cheesy Lifetime movie-type thing if played badly, but it was played well last night and if it continues like that, then it could be really fantastic. Either way, I want to know where this goes.

Everything else was terrific too. This show feels really intimate, and I understand where all the characters are coming from, even when they make choices I think are stupid (i.e. Julie, and Landry/Tyra. Hello, people, you gotta call the poliece!) But I do understand their thought processes, and I really love the show for being as honest about life as it is.

I thought the premiere was great! I have to feel sorry for Matt, as he's a good guy, and it looks like Julie is tired of him. Other surprises were the killing, and Lyla becoming a born-again Christian. All in all, a great season opener, and I will be tuning in for all the episodes.

I thought the stalker plot line was just stupid, but otherwise, what a great show!

Agreed, I'm not looking forward to this storyline for however long it drags out.

Executive producer Jason Katims said he's "incredibly optimistic" about a third season for the drama.

This is good news, for I want this to come back.

Aren't almost all the characters Seniors in high school this season? Wouldn't a 3rd season require basically a whole new cast?

From what I got from the article, they would continue within the same year since only 7 of the 22 episodes were filmed. Im sure the creators/writers will have a work-around, since every single High School show from 90210 to Buffy has solved this scenario before.

Yeah, I love this show. I hope it can go on as long as possible. But ratings are the key here, and FNL hasn't ever been a ratings generator.

Funny thing is that Jason Katims was involved in another guilty pleasure of a teen drama, called "Roswell." But from a writing and directing standpoint, FNL outshines that show and so many others. I'll be sad to see it go if it's not picked up again.

BTW, Season 2 is available for purchase on DVD. I went ahead and got mine, and it's still at the incredible low price of $18.99 on amazon. If you are a fan of the show, I suggest getting it to show support for it.
