Heroes - Season 2

Wouldn't it be nice to have a 'seasonal' thread for this show?

To avoid spoiling season two for those just getting into season one, maybe we should continue season two discusions here?

If not, mods...delete away!

That's a genius idea Iggy. I can't believe nobody's thought of it yet...

So has Heroes really gotten lazy on the SX? I dunno, maybe they have but as long as the stories are still good it shouldn't matter.

Ok. I looked at those scenes again and they were a bit shoddy to say the least. Thankfully when I normally watch this show my mindset isn't as critical to these issues as it is prior to 4pm or thereafter.

So who's the 'death' chick? She is frigging HOT!!!

Dania Ramirez, who I noticed first in Fat Albert and She Hate Me. Even appeared in some Buffy episodes, according to IMdB.com, but I didn't recognize her at the time. Probably best known as Callisto in the X-Men 3 movie.

I decided to drop this show after season one, I felt they were just spinning their wheels on a number of episodes to get to the finale, and the finale was a let down for me.

After hearing some Heroes fans thoughts on the second season, I'm glad I did.

If you didn't like season 1, then season 2 definitely won't be for you. I'm enjoying certain plotlines in the show, but not all of them. They all seem to be pretty independent storylines, as opposed to season 1, where the plotlines began to converge, as certain characters met with others.

I'm still enjoying the series, though, as it gives me something to look forward to on Mondays. I'm sure it'll get better once Kristen Bell appears on the show.

Relatively weak episode last night, with most of my favorites, Hiro, Ando, Peter, not in the episode. With about half the episode on Claire's storyline, I knew it was going to drag on.

Nice to see Sylar now teaming up with the Black Eyes twins. I find it interesting how Zachary Quinto is playing the character now. He doesn't seem like as much the murderous killer since he lost his powers. He's intrigued by the twins' powers and probably would like to acquire their powers, but he knows it won't work until he regains his abilities.

Nice to see Nathan back in the story. Lots of mystery here about what happened to him since the season 1 finale. Nice to see his storyline intersect with Suresh, Parkman, & Molly. Parkman's father being one of the 12? It'll be interesting to see where this goes.

I like the new character introduced as one of Micah's cousins, Monica, who seems to have the ability to mimic and copy with absolute precision whatever she sees.

And Kristen Bell joins the cast next week. Episodes should no doubt get better from here.

I don't know why people are complaining about this second season of Heroes. I think it's going along great, and we will see the connections between all the storylines. The Claire storyline doesn't bother me that much. One of the points of the series is to examine how these people deal with their powers in everyday life. Some of that may need to explore how does a teenage girl date or deal with it. I do wish that they had given the other kid a newer power, since we know Nathan can fly. But I like the series, even with the somewhat cheesy effects.

I'm not overly impressed with this season...yet. I loved Season 1 and feel that season 2 will probably hit it's own stride shortly here soon. I'm assuming they're waiting for something to explain the final moments of the events of Kirby Plaza in terms of Peter, Nathan and Sylar but I"m going to wait it out.

So far this season my favorite part of the show is Hiro and his struggle to help his hero become the legend Hiro grew up knowing. An episode w/o Hiro is not a complete episode

Good call by Entertainment Weekly calling out the lame season 2 to date with its crappy special FX and even crappier writing. Full review can be found in this weekes issue of EW. Although I think they were generous with giving them a C grade.

Kristen Bell will not only save the world, but save this show from itself.

Well, all the haters can keep complaining, but I'm guessing they are still tuning in. I like this last episode as it has moved the story along further. Nightmare man seems to have an interesting power, but maybe it's a bit of a Freddy Krueger ripoff. Kristen Bell rocked in her role, but she seems a bit unhinged. I guess we'll see what her character does.

[All this is spoilerish for this week's Heroes episode, so don't read if you haven't seen it yet...]

I was a little disappointed with the encounter with "Nightmare Man". Why go through all the deception with the shotgun and whatnot? When Parkman and Petrelli bust in, why not just put them into a scenario right then and get away, or kill them or whatever.

That scene only works as a way to trick the viewer, with no other logical reason... and I don't usually apprecaite that.

Same thing with Peter opening his "box". They hyped that up in chapter 3, now, it takes less than 20 seconds of screen time, and doesn't move the story along. We've had five episodes so far this year and still we have not even the slightest clue why Peter is in Ireland, or how he survived, or ANYTHING.

So, I'd have to agree that the writing is suffering this year. Not enough to make me even think about not watching the show anymore, but if I hadn't seen season 1, I'd probably be on to something else.

Well, this show moreso than others would require a familiarity with Season 1. Otherwise you would be completely lost. I guess some of the plot devices are hackneyed, but I think the story is moving along. The box was overhyped, I agree. We know now that they are going to Montreal, but we don't know much more than that. The reveal of the box reminded me somewhat of the reveal of the top secret documents from the end of Season 3 of ALIAS. It was a letdown.

Claire made the Cheerleading Squad! Yes! Im sooooo fucking stoked!! This is awesome!!

Tell me this isnt the only thing I have to celebrate this season of Heroes. Im this close to throwing in the towel. And whats sad is that if the writers dont pick up their game, the Mid-Season Mini series is going to be absolutely worthless. Kevin Smith was worried that he was going to be the reason why the show would suck. Not to worry Kevin, the creators beat you to it.

If that's the only thing you got out of this week's episode, I think you need to go re-watch it. There was a lot of movement on several of the story arcs.

Yeah, if you missed all the other parts, then it's best to throw the towel in now and wait for the set on video. Seriously, like Taxi said, there was some great plot development.

Who is Adam Monroe, I wonder? What kind of power does he have, and why is he dangerous to the company? I'm still tuning in. Those turned off by the special FX and minor plot devices can tune out, I guess.

***IGNORE IF YOU DIDN'T SEE LAST NIGHT'S EPISODE***

I had thought that Nightmare Man would be Kensei, but it turns out that Adam Monroe is Kensei. I figured that a guy that couldn't be killed would be someone that could possibly live to the present day. Which makes you wonder whether he fathered a lot of people making them mutants. And I get the feeling that Elle may be Kensei's daughter.

At any rate, this does make things interesting. I do like that Matt is getting some more powers than to just read minds. If he can alter people's perceptions, that may make his more effective against Monroe and Sylar when the time comes.

I have watched all of this season, but I missed a few episodes last season. What does the name Adam Monroe have to with last season?

Well, Nightmare Man wasn't really in last season either. Basically, we have seen his name dropped in previous episodes. But we now see what the whole point of Hiro going back to feudal Japan was for...to set up the supervillain that we have in this episode.

Great episode last night. It started to really feel like all of the storylines were coming together, as we now see the overall plot and danger that our Heroes will have to deal with for the rest of this season.

The name Adam Monroe came up for the first time last week, so there was no mention of it last season.

Anyone else think of 12 Monkeys when seeing the scenes of Peter and Caitlin one year in the future?

One thing I've noticed is that each member of the Company had a child or two. So you have to wonder who Bo
