The Sci Fi Channel just picked up Cable rerun rights to air Jericho. Now lets say that the ratings for Season 2 are not to the liking of CBS and cancel it.
Does this allow the Sci Fi Channel to pick it up for additional Seasons, given the fact that rating numbers for the Sci Fi channel are not expected to generate the same as for CBS, and would have a lower, more realistic target number? |

I enjoyed it. The "dude" in me is disappointed that the battle with New Bern was over so quickly, but... -shrug-
I was glad to see that some of the more annoying characters were totally absent (the kids, for example) though I miss Jake and Eric's mom and dad. I kinda wish Season 2 was longer than it will be - I think having so few episodes will make the season feel very compressed. But it was a good time and I'm glad to see the show back on the air.

Best....episode...ever! Shit, this had more drama and suspense than all of 24 Season 6. I have no idea how they are going to wrap this up in 2 episodes. Im hoping that they will renew this. If it has to go to another newtwork, then so be it. But keep Jericho alive!

Yeah, last couple of episodes have been fabulous. Haven't seen as vile a villian as DB Sweeney's Goetz in a long time, and that character deserved that bullet to the head. Nice to see the beautiful Emily Rose play the noble Trish on this show, as opposed to the slutty charcter she plays on Brothers & Sisters.

PLEASE don't cancel this series. That was epic, I had to watch it on demand since I missed the episode. But that was fantastic.

I cannot believe this isn't getting good ratings! Anymore I much prefer this to Lost, easily one of the best shows on television. Since it doesn't air here in HD(CBS is the only channel to lazy to upgrade), I've not only set Tivo to record, I'm downloading the HD versions off Xbox Live. I'm doing my part.

a girl I work with said this was the 10th most Tivo'd show on tv the last few weeks (probably w/ Idol on and this airing at 10, people do want to watch it but its on late). and it was ranked 50th or something in the normal ratings.
I fear it won't be renewed, hell even another 7-12 episode mid-season replacement season would be fine with me. This is the type of show that benefits from fewer episodes

CBS. Renew this show! You have your own 24 on your network. And this is better than 24! Come on!!!! Well with the ending of last nites episode leading into the season finale, I just dont know how they are going to wrap this up in 40 minutes.
I fear that we will be left with an even bigger cliff hanger (perhaps to force CBS to renew?), and wont have any closure at all. Bring it back as someone on this thread mentioned as a mid season replacement if not for an entire full 22 episode commitment. I just want more more more!!!!! It was great to see Pamela Reed make a cameo. But for the life of me, I cant remember how they wrote her off the show and where her character has been for the past 6 episodes. Someone fill me in on this. |

Two endings were shot for this finale. One is for if the ratings were very good and if there would be a season 3. The other ending is for if this is a series finale, because of weak ratings.

She is up at the family ranch that you saw in the dream sequence w/ Jake and his grandfather. She went up there after Johnston was killed to get away

damnit, when I read this, i wasn't totally surprised.
I think CBS had this planned out from the start, I mean why only 7 episodes? most mid-season replacements are 12 episodes, plus being on at 10 (probably to gain some post-idol viewers ) didn't help. Why not put this on Thursdays at 8 as a lead in to Lost and at least get more viewership. I'm glad CBS gave us a second chance but I feel they could have done more

I agree with that assessment. CBS basically were throwing us fans a bone with the 7. They didnt have to. But they also wanted to come out looking like the good guy without really having to commit long term to the show.
If CBS would have just place the show in a better time slot on a different day with better marketing, they would have gotten a higher ratings bump IMO. But Im still pissed. ![]() |

CBS had this planned from the start...they purposely put it in a crappy time slot with not any hope for the show at all...
There's a good article HERE about how network TV is turning into garbage and they're really just doing it to themselves....

I can hope can i?

The show started with low ratings this season of about 7.5 million viewers, which is already low for any season premiere. Last week's episode was 5.8 million viewers, I think. These numbers are even lower than what last season's episodes were, where it seemed to average 10-13 million in the first half of the season, and then 8-10 million in the 2nd half.
It should be no surprise that Jericho is being canceled. All we could hope for is the Sci-Fi Channel or some cable network picking it up, but that seems unlikely as Jericho is a bigger budget production which has a larger cast, and that was all trimmed down for season 2.

Well since the Sci Fi Channel has got the rights to air the reruns, Ive always held out hope that they would pick it up once CBS cancelled it.
And with it being on the Sci Fi channel, the need for huge ratings ala CBS expectations, will be right around what Jericho is pulling in now. Sure its a pricey show. But I would think that BSG cost way more, and that show is ending. Jericho could fill in the gap that will be left once BSG is off the air. |

watching the last episode of one of your favorite shows hurts. I wish that the networks who greenlight these shows and hype them would stand behind them for more then one season. These serialized shows like Jericho that require people to watch week in and week out need to have the networks stand behind them to tell the whole story.
The last episode was good, but felt rushed, it should have been a 2 parter. I didn't feel that it closed out what it was supposed to. There is definately room for a third season, even if it is a 12 episode run Maybe networks with shows like Jericho would fair better with shorter seasons since there is so much going on, the fewer episodes you have the better quality and higher ratings. 10pm on Tuesdays isn't going to garner you the numbers to keep a show alive unless it already has a huge fan base. So long Jericho, it was fun ![]()

I love how crappy the networks are becoming...they're ditching all these really good shows for P.O.S. "reality shows" which are getting more and more absurd as the years press on...
