That wasn't a season premiere, still on the current season. At least Atlantis isn't affected by the writer's strike.

Yeah, it was episode 11 of 20 for the current season. Episode 1 was back in September when Amanda Tapping was added to the cast. Missed this episode, but will watch the rerun next week.

Looks like this will be the final season of Stargate: Atlantis. There will be a 2-hour movie afterwards, similar to what has happened to the SG-1 series.
It kind of felt like the end was coming, as it never felt the same after Torri Higginson, who played Dr. Elizabeth Weir, left the show. With the cast turnover of Paul McGillion leaving and Amanda Tapping joining for only one season, to be replaced by Jewel Staite and Robert Picardo, there was some consistency missing in the show. I still enjoy the episodes and am sad to see the show ending, but I could tell it would happen soon. 'Stargate Atlantis' Ending Series Run - Sci Fi's drama will live on as a movie franchise - Zap2it

Sure, I have fun watching it, but "Atlantis" is a ship entirely without a rudder. This show simply had no direction after the first season.
Also, it now looks like "Atlantis" was canned in favor of a new spinoff, "Universe", which will "target a younger audience" : Sci Fi orders 'Stargate' spin-off--The Live Feed Quote:
