Neon Genesis Evangelion - Platinum Edition

Is anyone else excited about these DVDs? If you don't know, the first volume is going to be released in July and it will contain the first five episides remastered + special features. I am glad that I just got into Evangelion recently so I won't have to "double-dip" for these since I don't the original (and inferior) releases, especially considering how expensive anime DVD's are.

I got the entire Eva original set for 80$ a long time ago... the picture is fine as far as im concerned, and I'm not overly interested in the extras, so I will stick to my current set

I kept putting off buying Evangelion forever, mainly 'cause of the price of the full set, and now I'm really glad that I did.

I haven't seen one episode of this show, but read/heard so many great things about it that I cannot wait for this release to come out.

i have a question about this new release. I have no particular concerns with the original release, EXCEPT for the fact that every edit causes a slight vertical jump in the screen, like a hiccup. It's very annoying, and not present on other anime i own (or other gainax releases). I was told this was caused by the "film edits being hard-spliced" (whatever), but surely this is something that could have been corrected 4/5 years ago for the initial release...in any case, if this HAS been fixed, I would certainly buy the series all over again, extras or not.

I rented the whole series on DVD earlier this year, and there weren't any problems. So I guess the problem has been fixed?

As far as I know, the screen jitter was present on the original transfer and was not the result of editing. Anyway, based on the reviews I've read for the new R2 release, this new version should be free of jitter and grain.
