Harry Nilsson's "The Point" DVD P-U
I went ahead and made the purchase just to check it out and what a disappointment. The Point, and excellant TV special was first aired in 1971 but for some reason the good folks at BMG decided that the last version made in 1985 was the one to release with Ringo Starr doing the narration. The only trouble is Ringo Starr has a voice that has the same effect as sleeping pills making the special bland and boring and ruining a once great special.
In 1971 Dustin Hoffman narrated the first time it aired, next it was Alan Barzman and fianlly my faovrite Alan Thicke. Now while most DVD carry sound tracks in multi-languages this one only comes in 5.1 surround or stereo ruining a perfect oppertunity to fulfill all the dreams of the people who like the different version. SHAME ON BMG!!! I'll be contacting them for a refund!!! |
