When ALL the R1 Studio Ghibli DVDs are released.....
The Bootleg boxset of the Studio Ghibli movies have been for a while the only way many Worldwide audiences have been able to see their films on DVD. They are rampant on ebay and many internet sites, and I must confess that I did buy the boxset, just because it was the only way I could show my favorite childhood movies to American friends.
(Many of the official R2 Japanese versions were not out yet at that time) Now that Studio Ghibli via Disney has released 4 Miyazaki movies, following with 3 more in August AND 3 Takahata Ghibli movies in November, that only leaves 3 animated Ghibli movies to not have a US release. Whisper of the Heart, Ocean Waves, and The Cat Returns. So for people who bought the boxset version, or bought the legitimate Overseas individual versions, what are you going to do with them once all their movies come out via Disney in R1? (Picture of the bootleg just to let people know what i'm talking about. There are many different variations of it, but this one seems to be the most popular Plus there are people out there that DONT know this is a bootleg) ![]()

Ahhh, busted by Jigen
Yes , I too own the same Ghibli box as you. I have also bought most of the official R1 releases as well (still haven't got an official KiKi yet, and refuse to buy the crappy Totoro dvd from Fox). I am really loooking forward to the next wave of Miyazaki dvds later this year, especially Nausicca. I do plan to buy all legit Ghibli dvd releases eventually, but will still hold on to the boot-box. It has some tv shorts and a music video that I just can't see being released in the USA. (Not to mention that the packaging is pretty cool, even by bootleg standards.)
