Duck Tales any news?

I'm thinking of buying this show (not officially released). Before I do though, has anyone heard any news about this show possibly coming to dvd anytime soon?

It would be awesome if it came out but I have a feeling this is one of those at the very bottom of a very long list releases

This show was pretty popular when it was on. I could see them releasing the pilot movie sometime. Not sure if they'd do the whole show.

The movie wasn't a pilot, but I did hear a rumor that it could be coming early next year. Wouldn't really surprise me. "DuckTales" is definitely valuable material for Disney. They're probably just trying to maximize their profits by determining the best way to release that and their other popular animated series.

I was always more of a Chip 'n' Dale's Rescue Rangers fan, meself. Still, I'd most likely pick this up if it were released in boxed sets (there were only 65 episodes, if memory serves). Pretty much all of the "Disney Afternoon" shows from Gummi Bears through Darkwing Duck still hold up pretty well.

Wuzzles and Duck Tales for me.

The movie came out between seasons and was actually the first film to be made by the team who now churn out the video sequels.

The movie, Treasure Of Teh Lost Lamp, is due to be released in the UK on July 25 or so, so a new transfer has been made.

Look for r1 early next year.

I saw the movie "Treasure of the Golden Suns" on TV when it aired in 1987. They later followed it up with the series. The movie you're thinking about "Treasure of the Lost Lamp" is a different movie from 1990.

I humbly await your apology for doubting my Ducktales knowledge.

Um, sorry, but I gotta correct you.

"Treasure Of The Golden Suns" was the first five episodes of the TV show, bundled together for a one off initial screening and then syndication in other markets.

It wasn't a pilot, since the show was in full production and they held back the first four and decided to go with a longer premiere episode.

They also did this later in the series with another compilation movie, Duck Tales: Time Is Money (1988) and the same with the starter for Chip ‘n’ Dale Rescue Rangers: To The Rescue (1989).

"Treasure Of The Lost Lamp" was a self-contained movie, produced and always intended as a theatrical film. It's this that is coming to disc early 2005.

I think we're both right. By pilot I mean premiere episode. They made the premiere a movie and it aired before they even announced it would be followed by a regular show. I watched it when it first aired and then read subsequent articles saying it did well enough they were going to air the show.

Treasure of the Golden Suns is not an actual movie. BubbleGumUK is correct. It's just the first five episodes bundled together. If you want proof, why would it say "to be continued" four times if it was a movie?

I just got the first 13 episodes and I could not believe how absolutely well this show holds up. It had been years since I'd seen it, and at times I felt like I was a kid again. I eagerly await Disney to actually release this thing on DVD. I could also go for some Darkwing Duck, Talespin, and Rescue Rangers as well.

Well, it didn't make it out in Region 1 in 2005 but Ducktales The Movie: Treasure of The Lost Lamp is now available exclusively from the Disney Movie Club. It is anamorphic widescreen (unlike most of the DMC exclusive releases) with disc art. My 2 copies should be showing up between Thursday & Saturday of this week. I can't wait.
