Galaxy Rangers to finally hit DVD! w00t w00t!!

Taken from tvshowsondvd.com:

Quote:
The Gaylord Production Company's remaining properties, from their TV production run during the '80s, have been purchased by Koch Entertainment, according to a report today by Video Store Magazine's Jessica Wolf. This includes The Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers, a show that has been highly in demand by dedicated fans..

The series, which counted among it's voice talent Law & Order star Jerry Orbach, should not be confused with the similarly-titled Power Rangers live-action series. Rather, this was an animated show that had 65 episodes produced for syndication, starting in 1986.

According to the VSM article, Galaxy Rangers will arrive on DVD in October. We checked with Koch, though, and got additional details.

October 5th will see two different releases in Canada, but available for import to the United States to play on any standard player. List price is CA$16.99, and online retailers like Amazon.ca (the Canadian arm of Amazon) will discount it, of course. Currently the distributor is simply referring to these as "Volume 1" and "Volume 2", but a subtitle may be added once the episode list is finalized and announced.

More about these will be available soon. Stay tuned, and we'll fill you in once we get the info.

I don't know if there are any other fans around here, but this is great news to me. I can't wait to get my mitts on these.

Aw, yeah, sweet as butter, baby!!

My only concern is that Koch is releasing this. Of the few Koch discs I have in my collection, their DVDs do seem to lack in quality. I think I might feel more comfortable if a studio like Rhino, who has done all of the G.I.Joe and Transformers releases, were to release it.

Still good news, anyway. Can't wait.

At this point, I don't care who does it or how great it is. I just want them. Back a long time ago I filled about seven VHS tapes with GR shows because I was moving and couldn't be sure where I was moving to would have the show. Over the years I've lost all but about one or two of those tapes, and I've wanted them again ever since. This is my opportunity to have them. I would love if the transfers were pristine and the extras lavish, but really so long as I can see them and hear them, I'll be happy.

You can see them listed at Amazon. Each disk will have four episodes and retail for $14.99, though Amazon has them listed at $10.99. Come on October!

To my recollection, the series had the standard 65 episodes that most daily syndicated cartoons required. 4 episodes per, that's probably 16 discs. 16 x $15 MSRP = $240. Oy. Even if I can get them for $10 each, that'll still be $160.

Maybe I'll buy the 1st 2, and then selectively pick the ones which I remembered as favorite episodes.

I'm a completeist, so I'll have to get them all. But I'm okay with that.
