Garfield Holiday Specials

I might be the only one who's ecstatic beyond words about this release, but dvdanswers.com is reporting that a dvd containing the Garfield Holiday Specials will be released sometime before the end of the year:

Title: Garfield: Holiday Celebrations
Starring: N/A (Animation)
Released: Fall 2004
SRP: Price TBC

Further Details
Fox Home Entertainment has kindly sent us over artwork for the region one release of Garfield: Holiday Celebrations which will presumably contain a number of Holiday themed episodes. I say presumably, as Fox has yet to officially announce the title, and therefore details are very sketchy to say the least. The release date hasn't been confirmed yet either, although we're guessing it'll be released to coincide with the arrivial of the Garfield movie this October. Naturally, as soon as we have further details on this one, we'll let you know.

The Garfield christmas special has always been my favorite christmas special since I was a kid. For me, it's not christmas unless I watch the Claymation christmas special and the Garfield christmas special. I never thought the Claymation special would see the light of day on dvd, but to my surprise it was released very quietly last fall (it took me forever to get ahold of a copy, but I did after a lot of searching), and now with Garfield being released, I'm one step closer to feeling complete .

I've never seen the Thanksgiving special. I think that I've seen the Halloween one...it would have happened in the 80's though. And I might still have a copy of the Christmas one that I taped off CBS 6 ro 7 years ago. The Christmas one is okay, but it certainly beats the new movie. So I might end up adding this to my holiday collection.

Well, the artwork would definitely seem to imply we'll get the Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Halloween specials. I am a huge Garfield fan, so I will definitely pick this up. I used to love the Halloween special.

Me too, I have always loved the garfield cartoons, I will probably pick this up since it will only be about $10. They should have made the Garfield cartoon into a movie instead of going live action, it was much better.

Cool! I've always liked the holiday specials. I'll probably buy this, or put it on a Christmas list.

I think this thread will end up in our Toon Town forum pretty soon.

okay, so that leaves (i believe) 2 more garfield specials...the one where he goes camping (in the wild, in think it was called), and the one where they go to tropical island with the volcano. I really want the camping one, but I can't see them releasing that unless a movie sequel is made or something...argh....anyway, cool news about the holiday specials.

Sorry, my bad. I was so excited about finally getting the christmas special that I didn't even think to post it in the animation forum.

My sister and mom went nuts when i showed them the news this afternoon about the holiday specials being released. My family has always loved the XMas and Hallowe'en special. The ThanksGiving one has also grown a lot on me and my family as well.

I thought that was on the first special dvd disc. I noticed they said something about John taking them on vacation or soemthing. Is that how they labeled the Pet Search special? Then if so we better see the special on dvd when they go to Hawaii. That is when Odie and the Mechanic ride Elvis car into the volcano to stop it from exploding.

The first special dvd has 2 great episodes (Here Comes Garfield - 1982, and Garfield On The Town -1983), and 1 ridiculous-this-doesn't-belong-on-this-dvd episode from 1991, where Garfield is in it for a whole 4 minutes, and his eyes are oval (as opposed to his funny years, when they were round). That really pissed me off, because it should have been the one where they go camping (which was next in my autobiographical order).

now, if there's a major easter egg with an extra episode i don't know about, someone PLEASE tell me...

I'm looking forward to all the animated Garfield on DVD. But I was dissapointed when they made Nermal a boy in the movie. In the comic strip, and cartoon she was a girl.
