Shrek 2 Coverart

I was just updating my wishlist on dvd profiler & behold, they have the front & back coverart for the film. Have not seen this anywhere else on the net, so If ya use Pro, check it out. Not sure if its the finalized coverart, but looks authentic to me.

Universal hasn't used the old Collector's Edition banner in a long time... odd if it's real...

Yep, it'll probably be changed to 2-disc Special Edition like the first dvd.

Never seen the film and don't plan to, but I have to ask why you say that. It seems a lot more visually interesting than most DVD covers for the same type of films, which usually just have the characters lined up in some way.

I think its a good looking cover. I just don't think it will be the final product. It is weird to see those golden banners again. Of course, this being a Universal title, the "Collector's Edition" will probably be changed to something stupid like "Outrageous Ogre Edition".

I wouldn't be surprised if this thread has a new address once everyone's up in the morning.

Dreamworks has never had a Universal style Collector's edition banner on their titles. They either have signature series editions or just special editions banners, oh and Awards edition.

I don't care for the cover if it truly is the final artwork.

Also moving to Toon Town since it's an animated movie.

Anybody notice this disclaimer?

Guys!

I can't believe you've been hoodwinked like this?

Front:
The Universal style for a start (as HAS been pointed out).
The "2 hours extra" that looks so badly placed it's untrue.
Main title AT THE BOTTOM? Since when has an animated title done this?
No press quote on the front for the biggest film of the year?

Back:
Three quotes from the UK PRESS?
A bunch of extras that we KNOW are not on there?
A bunch of extras that we DO KNOW about and are not listed?
Anamorphic 2.35:1 for a 1.85:1 film?
An ALL REGIONS disc from DreamWorks?
COLOUR spelt as the Brits spell it?
Synopsis text that is WAY too small to read?

Come off it - the special features is a wish list and doesn't even bother to include what we DO know will be on there (2 filmmaker commentaries, Far Far Away Idol and stuff like that). And where are the confirmed Spanish dubbed track and subtitles?

If this is a mocked up British release, why have the MPAA PG logo (no BBFC certificate on there), and the American styled back cover.

This a FAKE, FAKE, FAKE and looks it too!

Something else I noticed. The first movie had dts , while this version does not.

Sounds to me like it's not true.

A lot of Dreamworks releases have the two audio options.

Notice the spelling of colour and not color. Most likely, if anything this would be the R2 version.

Yeah i thought it was fake. Especially because they have Fiona in her human form on the cover (think they would of kept the Ogre form instead) The movie was a 1.85:1 ratio in theaters (dvd will probably be 1.78:1 like the past dvd) Dolby French surround with 4 speakers and the banner on the front cover too.

It was ok but chances are they will stick with the CD cover

Bob...DVD will be 1.85:1.

We had to take our menus and screenshots down from Animated News, but can confirm the specs...no DTS.

Also, looks like a single-disc affair, since they pretty much said everything they wanted to say on part one.

This will be a packed single disc, with two commentaries, but no crew com as this FAKE FAKE FAKE cover says.

Ispep Aloc - like I said in my above posts (also noted the color/colour thing in there too!), "If this is a mocked up British release, why have the MPAA PG logo (no BBFC certificate on there), and the American styled back cover"?.

Holy Piss N Boots man

Get over the specs, if you read what I said: "Not sure if its the finalized coverart, but looks authentic to me." meaning the artwork, not what is written down as specs, 1.85:1, 2.35:1 etc...

Yo're very protective Derb... did you come up with this?

And no, this is not what it will look like. I've a friend in DWs marketing and as of now, they are going with the crowded faces all around the edge of the cover look that one of the posters had.

They basically want to get as many faces in as possible.

I think that banner is silly as well. Maybe it sound read..."#1 Comedy Of All Time (until The Incredibles is released.)"

Otherwise, not a bad cover.

That is one of the worst banner's ever. Its kind of pretentious for Dreamworks to put that there, and sure the numbers back them up in that claim. But those numbers don't always tell the truth when you consider rising ticket costs. Then again, maybe Dreamworks had its number crunchers level the playing field for all the top comedies ever to solidfy its claim. Either way, its hideous and hopefully gone by the time Shrek 2 is on shelves.

Oh I'm sure Dreamworks put that there cause their feeling all high & mighty sinse the take over of #4th all time domestic gross.

The artwork may be finalized, but they still need to put a banner on the top of the case, "Fullscreen Edition" & "Widescreen Edition"

I kinda like the artwork that was submitted by imdb better. You know the one that I posted here, right after I saw it on dvd profiler. Well at least this coverart now (IGN), is better than just having a giant green #2.

That really looks alot better without the banner... I guess thats what threw my whole opinion about the cover off, because now i dont think it looks that bad

**edit**

Looking at both of them the Shrek 2 text is also different, the latter having the real looking lettering... that also makes a big diff

I think it will have some sort of banner, like WIDESCREEN or SPECIAL EDITION. And I think it needs a small thin banner at the top or bottom.
