hrmmmmm... I thought the plan was to release some direct to DVD movies throughout 2006/2007. has that been scrapped ?
If the direct to video movies were going to be released soon, then they should be well into making them already.

That is great news. "Futurama" is a show that I never caught during its TV run and purchased blind on DVD. After the first episode, I was hooked. I'd love to see some new, fresh episodes of the show.

Oh what a smile this brings to my face. Sure its posted on AICN.com but supposibly the real word on the show coming back is from Billy West himself. A total of 26 NEW EPISODES are supposibly in the works and possibly released before the Direct to Video dvd movies. No word if it will be shown on Fox or the Cartoon Network, but WHO THE HELL CARES FUTURAMA IS COMING BACK!!!!!!

I'm sorry I gave inaccurate info on the cartoon.I was told on one end that the
TV show was a go but DXC enlightened me (with a hammer) that this was
not the case.I think there is a Futurama project as in DVD's but I appearently
had bad info.But I do live to give good Futurama news to people.So I must've
died or something.

Wow you guys are almost as hopeful about this as the people who are convinced Firefly is going to return. Well lost causes always have people to follow them I guess.

Why is it that people think because Family Guy, something hardly any one watched untill dvd, was brought back every other hardly watched show will do the same. Granted Family guy could be written by any 2 high school freshman and then repeat itself for different situation which makes production time shorter and Futurama is a bit smarter. But I doubt Futurama will be gived the second chance for 1 reason and 1 reason only. It isn't as stupid as Family Guy, also it's not as smart as South Park it's in the middle where no shows can last.

Us guys? Where did I say I was hoping for a comeback? I never watched Futurama when it was on, why would I care if it comes back? I just came across that information on another site I frequent, and thought I'd post it here for those who might care.

Comedy Central orders 13 NEW Episodes of Futurama for 2008 start

Three years after Fox canceled the show, Matt Groening's "Futurama" will resume production for a 13-episode run on Comedy Central. The new episodes will be added to the network's library of 72 "Futurama" episodes previously licensed from 20th Century Fox Television. Voice talent Billy West, Katey Sagal and John DiMaggio will return for the new episodes, which will debut in 2008.

"There is a deep and passionate fan base for this intelligent and very funny show that matches perfectly with our audience and it is great that we can offer them not just the existing library, but something they've never seen as well," said David Bernath, senior VP, programming, Comedy Central.

"Futurama" marks the third Fox project revived by basic cable in recent years. New episodes of "Greg the Bunny" are being ordered by IFC, and Fox resurrected "Family Guy" after the series found success on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim.

Katie Sagal was asked by Graig Ferguson on last nights show if Futurama was coming back and here is what she supposibly said. (taken from Billy's board form a poster)

Then he asked her to ellaborate and she said (para-phrased) "We're on Comedy Central. We just signed a deal".

He asked how many or something like that and she said, "16 or 13... I'm not sure. I haven't seen the deal. I just said YES!"

Again until Billy himself says something i shall not get my hopes too high

My only con (to a thousand pros) to this news is that I think "Futurama" had as touching a final 30 seconds of any show in history. Now this isn't the ending anymore. Oh well, when it's time to end it again, I'm sure they will once again present a perfect close.
