Darkwing Duck, The Tick and Tale Spin August 29th

Well here is some happy news to many animated fans. It seems an inside source has let it slip that Disney is planning to release both TV Series in some form on dvd in 2006 (Volume Set for DWD and possible Entire Series for Tick. Disney aquired the rights to The Tick, Power Rangers and Xmen when they bought Saban Productions.)

Pretty long reads so here are links to both Darkwing Duck and The Tick

Thank you for that information. Finally I can rest easy knowing that 2 of my favorite childhood shows can be mine on DVD this year. Thanks man.

I wonder how Darkwing Duck holds up after all these years? Do they show reruns on Toon Disney? I saw Tale Spin on there a few months back and I was amazed at how well put together that show is compared to most cartoons. Disney really had some talented people working for them back then.

Well its look like i will have to add another series to the list. Coming this August 29th we shall be getting The Tick, Darkwing Duck and now we can add Tale Spin

Quote:
Disney confirmed the news by announcing that Volume 1 would be out on August 29. The 3 disc set will contain the 4-part pilot, and the first 23 episodes (27 total). It sounds as though Disney realized their mistake with not including the pilot episodes for Ducktales and Rescue Rangers last year. The set will sell for $34.99 US, or $37.99 CAN. The set won't contain any extras.

The good news first: we have artwork for the August 29 release of The Tick, which we previously reported. The bad news is that it's not the complete series, and isn't even the complete first season. You can see the starburst indicates that this contains "The Most Hilarious Episodes From Season One!" - Season 1 is 13 episodes, so we know it'll have fewer than 13 episodes. The price for the set will be $34.99 US, or $37.99 CAN for the 2 disc set. The set appears to be called "The Belated 10th Anniversary Edition," and makes no mention of it being volume 1. Surely this won't be all, will it? The set will come in "collectible packaging" and will contain an original lithograph from Tick creator Ben Edlund.

Tale Spin and Darkwing Duck look like nice sets, but that Tick ones just sounds odd.

With a price of $34.99, it had BETTER not be an incomplete 1st season.....

Maybe they consider every episode "The Most Hilarious Episodes From Season One"?

According to TV Shows on DVD, this set will contain all but one of the season 1 episodes of The Tick. The name of the missing episode is still unknown as of today (May 25).

Blathering Blatherscythe Ahh the good old Disney series. I remember they were part of an afternoon set.. Gummi Bears, Duck Tales, Chip n Dale's Rescue Rangers and Talespin. And then they added Darkwing Duck and Goof Troop. I was still trying to figure out what the kid's boomerang thing was.
