The Little Mermaid: Platinum Edition on 10/3 (?)

So says: http://www.davisdvd.com

"Widely known for some time now, Buena Vista Home Enterainment has officially announced The Little Mermaid: Platinum Edition for release on October 3rd. The film, which ushers in a new era for Disney animation, was last available on DVD in 1999. For this new two-disc edition, the classic has been digitally restored and remastered with a brand-new anamorphic widescreen transfer and Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks. Bonus materials are expected to include commentaries, deleted scenes, multiple featurettes and musical bonuses. Retail will be $29.99."

Even though it says "widely known", I haven't heard about it before now. Is this news to anyone else?

Well, the Platinum DVD release schedule has been known for some time, although I think TLM was scheduled to be released a while ago, but got bumped back. I don't think the date has been solidified like this before, but I don't keep my finger on the pulse of Disney DVD releases.

I'd do her (next year when she turns 18).

She's been 17 for the better part of two decades now. Who does she think she is, Keira Knightley?

Yeah I know MJ. If they'd just announce her birthday on Entertainment Tonight, Access Hollywood... I don't want to take any chances. I hear those under the sea prisons of King Tritons are brutal (nothing but sushi & seawater).

I wish they'd use the advance one sheet for the cover.

I don't know...if you look at the waves really closely, it looks like they are spelling "vagina" in Hebrew.

I'm sure there will be an "Under the Sea" pop cover video by some stupid group like they always do on their platinum editions.

But she's a smoking hot cartoon. Hey, Pamela Anderson has so much plastic in her that she's probably less "real" than most Disney chicks.

Is there really a question WHY exactly you don't get laid?

This was actually one of the few kiddie type Disney animation films I enjoyed. My sister dragged me to it and ended up liking it.

ANYWAYS. . . . .

Can't wait for the dvd. Would love to see what they have done to clean up the picture. I got the first dvd release for free from the Snow White promo a long time ago (still feel bad for sutting the P.O.P tag from the back cover) Anyways i bough the Narnia dvd with a promo for the new dvd edition coming and with my new tv i could really see the age of the movie. So I'm hoping that a nice clean transfer will be done or at least a clip of it soon will be released online/Xbox Marketplace.

Downloaded the new CARS trailer from the marketplace in 720p and DAMN doe sit look amazing compare to the dvd teaser on Narnia
