My Brother's Cartoon: The World of Quest on THE WB! KIDS
Hey everybody,
I am not usually around these parts of the FILE but I am excited to let everyone know that my brother's decade long struggle is finally bearing some fruit. The graphic novel, THE WORLD OF QUEST just hit streets (available @ BORDERS, BARNES & NOBLE, Comic & Collectible shops, & www.worldofquest.tv) and coinciding w/ that release is the Saturday morning cartoon on WB KIDS! Obviously, there are many creative changes throughout the years--things my brother didn't like but the network likes and vice-versa but the bottom line is....its gonna be on TV! They just started airing spots on the channel and for a little preview, you can check this link out: http://kidswb.warnerbros.com/shows/world-of-quest So I hope everyone likes it and will have their little ones watch it! It really is a lot of fun and has been lauded as "Conan the Barbarian meets Calvin & Hobbes." I am not sure of the time slot just yet but will let you know. And if you want to check out the non-WB site, just go to http://www.worldofquest.tv and check out all sorts of cool stuff. Thanks for your support! --JTrotter |

I've watched 4 eps of World of Quest so far, and here are my thoughts:
LIKES: 1. Really great character design. Some of the best-looking cartoon characters on TV right now. 2. Voices are top-notch, especially Ron Pardo as Quest (among others) and Landon Norris as Nestor. 3. Great theme song. I mean, I think it's great. I have trouble getting it out of my head, so I may wind up hating it before long. DISLIKES: 1 Unfortunately the show's scripts are often low in quality. Too many fart jokes and phlegm jokes. The characters act in ways that make them less than appealing. I'd have to say that my favorite character is Nestor the prince; he's really very funny, especially when he reacts to the indignities heaped upon him by life and especially by Quest. For all his princely bluster, however, he's really a rather sympathetic, even loveable little chap - at least in the first few episodes. But then today WB aired an episode called "Death by Mockery" (can't remember the title of the other ep), and in it he's suddenly a lot more annoying, bratty and whiny. Seemed somewhat out of character, and worse, the jokes in the episode were plain awful. 2. So far we've had no expansion upon the relationships in the show, except for the one-note bullying of Nestor by Quest. We have a griffin, sorceress, swordsman, and someone who's sort of a black Tin Man, and they just sort of hang out together, and there's no funny or interesting interaction. They just walk around, find odd creatures with deplorable personal hygiene, and beat the crap out of them. Then they go on somewhere else and do it again. Why are they doing this quest again? Oh yeah, to rescue Nestor's parents. But since they haven't really talked about that beyond episode one, it's hard to get a handle on why they continue to do what they do. So in closing - A little more story, a lot more character/relationship development and far fewer very bad jokes (particularly about bodily functions) would help in a major way to keep this show from becoming unwatchable. Because it has such promise, I think. It would be nice to have a truly fun cartoon/adventure with a touch of humor, like Danny Phantom or Avatar, and WoQ has that potential I believe. And now I'm done. ![]() |
