Do people give you a hard time for liking cartoons?

I mean, do people ridicule you or look at you with suspicion because you're an adult who likes animation? And I'm not talking "forced to watch it with your children", but watching cartoons because you genuinely enjoy them?

I get this shit all the time.

I tend to keep it to myself. Some people will judge you on it, so I feel them out and disclose the info when I know I wont be ridiculed.

There really isnt anything quality on Saturdays anymore.

I do like Spongebob, and will watch it on my own, although I got into it cause of my daughter.

I am not sure if Family Guy counts, as it is more of a sitcom to me. I have heard from some people that they dont watch it cause it is a cartoon and that is strange to have an animated adult show, like Simpsons.

I usually don't make it public knowledge that I like and watch animation unless I'm talking to someone who has an interest in it also.

Well what about animated movies? Are you counting that? Because I can't imagine too many people ridiculing others because they liked Ratatouille. And if people don't understand your watching of 'cartoons' can't you just direct them to the popularity of Pixar? And compare how similiar 30 minute shows can be, in your own mind.

If it actually comes up in conversation I'm not affraid to say I like cartoons and/or animated movies. If people laugh I just give 'em the old "If you don't like cartoons your not American!!!".

Of course that doesn't really hold much water if they are really aren't American. So yeah you can use it just make sure they are American. Be cautious though Canadians are sneaky little bastard they look alot like Americans and sometimes sound like us too.

They're everywhere shhhhhh....

I tend not to really make a big deal out of it. When people come over and see the entire DC animated universe on my shelf, they might say, "Um, dude?" and I say, "What? I like cartoons. Sue me." That seems good enough for most folks.

uhh - what animated movies do you mean?

You should detail what kinds of animation you're talking about, because I doubt if anyone would look at you sideways for liking Ratatoulle and The Incredibles, for example.

Are you talking about Spongebob?
Justice League/Batman?
Sailor Moon?
hentai?

Animation isn't exactly all targetted to the same demographic.

I actually give people shit for NOT liking animation, I tell them it's the same as discrimination, not liking something for a particular look.

I'm talking about someone at another forum I frequent lumping all animation into the same category, going so far as to say anyone who watches "cartoons" should be playing in a sandbox. This same guy also claimed that he stared at the floor when the Goofy cartoon that played before National Treasure 2 came on, because he refused to watch it.

Yeah, and he also claimed to have watched the Transformers movie 20 times in one week. Okay, Bugs Bunny, Tom & Jerry, and Miyazaki films are for infants, but Anthony Anderson shrieking like a howlier monkey is deep, thought-provoking adult entertainment.

National Treasure 1 and Transformers are some of the most brain-dead, embarrassing pieces of crap that pass as "entertainment" to brain dead morons I've seen in the past 5 years.

I can only imagine how bad NT2 is.

If you are actually concerning yourself in the slightest with what someone that enjoys that crap says.... on the INTERNET.... than you have more self-image issues than you realize.

Like what you like, man.
As I remember, you DO enjoy too juvenile of movies/shows and should get out more, but compared to his entertainment tastes, you seem to be better off in the "pathetic life" race.

If it's someone on another forum, why do you give a crap? Do you know them in person? If not, why care about their opinion?

I don't mean to sound harsh, but I reserve the people who's opinions matter to me to those I know well (and generally like) and people of some importance. Some Joe Schmoe off the net matters little to me. And you shouldn't get too worked up over it either. Enjoy what you like and let them waste time getting all bothered about it on the net. There's too much to enjoy out there in life to give it any worry.

No. Though it generally doesn't come up in normal conversation either. Also, Monty, you know that other person is just giving you a hard time to get a rise out of you.
