Bolt (Take two)

Has everyone seen the trailer for Bolt? It's a new one from Disney, comes out around Thanksgiving... and looks to be pretty funny. From an animation stand point I think it looks pretty great, apparently they used some new brush stroke to give it a softer look. I think it will be one to see in theaters for sure.

I've seen the trailer twice when watching Wall-E and Dark Knight. It does look pretty good, but it felt like possibly all of the best scenes were shown in the trailer, and it tells you the whole story in the trailer, too. Will there be anything good left in the movie?

At least it looks better than Chicken Little as far as Pixar-less CGI Disney films go.

I don't think you have to be too worried about that. The Disney panel at Comic-Con showed some new clips from the film and got stellar reviews from bloggers who were there covering. So, from the previews and now these reviews of the scenes, I think this movie should end up being extremely entertaining for the whole thing. Here's what one reviewer had to say

"Needless to say, this 10 minute or so action sequence had the audience's attention. It was surprisingly funny, action packed, and utterly enthralling. As fun as it was, I started wondering how any of the rest of the film with Bolt in the real world could possibly be interesting. Boy, was I wrong. We were treated to more scenes including one showing the other acting cats harassing Bolt (who thinks he still has superpowers, yet can't get out of his trailer). John Travolta voices Bolt and does a pretty good job based on the little I saw. The cats were absolutely hilarious, but nothing compared to the hilarious hamster in a ball who aids Bolt"

I liked the trailer and look forward to seeing it in theaters when its released. Probably take in a 3D viewing of it when i can. I have heard some complaints from other boards that say the story isn't original at all, because its Buzz Lightyear all over again . . . but as a dog. Who cares i say as long as I'm entertained.

Besides i love the Hamster in the ball (looks more like a Guinea Pig and our family love Guinea Pigs) and Bolt looks to be a White German Shepherd which again my family loves. Our first 3 dogs were WGS and we aren't big fans of cats either.

It's like the movie was made for me and my family to watch

I agree Bob- Just because the film's idea has a character who thinks he's apart of something that he's really not (ie: Toy Story, Tropic Thunder, most Will Ferrell movies) It will still stand as an entertaining movie on its own. A lot of film premise's have been "copied", but the story in all of them are different. I look forward to Bolt's original story and entertaining jokes.

Better than Chicken Little isn't setting the bar too high. I've got pictures my nephews & nieces have drawn on my refrigerator that pass that test.

Thanks for the heads up! Will probably have to stay away from that one. As for Bolt do you guys think that the character of Bolt will end up being as famous as some of his predecessors? (ie: Aladdin, Pluto, The Lion King Characters) I think he definitely has potential to be huge with kids.

More proof that a billion individually-rendered CG hairs or feathers won't disguise an ugly character design.

Well lucky for us then, we can all tell that Bolt had some excellent character design early on, as he looks awesome now that he's animated.

In other good news for bolt, just read this article on the blog Blue Sky Disney. A guy over there I guess knows some people at Disney Animation and Bolt is getting some awesome buzz with in the studio. Here's the paragraph on Bolt:

"The screenings that have occurred with "Bolt" have had animators talking about how much more heart, humor and depth this film has over the last four or five Disney animated features. When general audiences get a look at the film this Thanksgiving they'll also note the change in quality and perception too. And with the new animated shorts that WDAS is making it's going expand what audience can expect from Disney in the future."

It's actually a really interesting article on the new direction that Disney Animation is headed in. Here's the full article.

"I'll snap his neck!"

Every commerical for this movie makes me smile or laugh outright. I have a really good feeling about this one. It'd be nice to have a genuinely good non-Pixar Disney film again.

This one's an absolute charmer all the way through. Great voice work and character designs, and the Harry Knowles-ish hamster is an absolute riot. Also loved the stereotypical N.Y and L.A. pigeons. Funniest cartoon birds since the seagulls in Finding Nemo (MINEMINEMINEMINEMINE!!!!!!!!!). And the 3D looked stunning. Disney's best since Lilo & Stitch.

This comes out on March 24 for anyone that missed it in theaters. I think GloWorm and I will probably buy it. We really liked it in theaters.
