Took some quick pictures of my system in it's "natural environment"... one of the TV in action to follow shortly...

Here is a picture of the front (duh...) taken from the doorway.

Here is a picture of one of my side speakers... bipolar towers so the sound comes out the front and the back (firing towards the back and front of the room, or left and right in this picture)

Here is a closer view of my SV Subwoofers in the front right corner... they are pretty dark so they don't photograph well

My equipment rack is located in a closet in the rear of the room... to do this summer is put a fan in the ceiling so it doesn't heat up in there! Top to bottom... Receiver,HTPC,DVD player,Sub electronics

Here is a closeup of the Subwoofer electronics... from top to bottom, dual 31 band EQ, compressor, and amp!

Here is a desktop shot from my HTPC... of course with overscan I don't see most of the edges (or the task bar) but that's the way that I like it! (who really wants to see windows on their TV?)

Not part of my main system, but here is the downstairs system... Marantz Receiever, Sony 5 disc carousel CD player, JVC Dish network Satelite receiver. Dreamcast, Nintendo 64 and Super nintendo.

What's a "Audiophile 2496"?

And are you sure it's an ATI GForce?

HA! Good catch.

ATI Radeon

The Audiophile is made by M-audio and is a professional digital audio card. I now use the GameTheaterXP for Gaming and the Audiophile for co-ax digital out.

The audiophile card rocks!

I use one to do digital multitrack recording. It's like turning your PC into a $3000 Professional HD recorder, for 140 bucks.

I have been trying to get a review model. It sounds like a neat product, but their marketing/PR people kind of suck.

I am curious how the wharfedale line is.

They are available for cheap on ubid.com

Their new Pacific Line looks attractive but I have neber seen them in the store so I do not know how they sound.

Do you know of any chain stores that sell them?

I have not seen these in any chain store. I got mine at a local HT shop that happens to carry Wharfdale speakers. I'm sure that with a little research you should be able to find someone in your local area that carries the speakers. I am fairly impressed with the ones that I got... they perform very well for what I paid for them.

yeah they are pretty inexpensive on ubid.com

I am debating between them and the Axiom line

I will probably go with the axiom line because I do not want to buy anything from Ubid if I do not have to.

I wonder, do you have a pair of subwoofers there? You're talking in plural, yet I can see only one on your pics.

Someday you'll have to give me advice on how to build a decent HTPC. Not that I had any money left right now

They are both in that back right corner... you can see light hitting the one behind the right speaker (and the front sub)

It's black, so it's kind of hard to see in the picture...

Well, dom, for you...

I have a picture somewhere on the Mac that I'll post as soon as the wife is done surfing.

Tomdkat... the 46" is only available in one of Mits' product lines so that made my selection easy...

Yeah, let me add a of my own...
When I was looking for a Sub, I considered the 20-39,
but the shipping to Israel was, iirc, over $200 per speaker,
so I let it go.

CHROMY, WHY NOT PUT A SUB BEHIND THE LEFT SPEAKER TO GIVE MORE OF A STEREO EFFECT.

I know subs are not as directional as speakers, but you can sense directioon a little bit.

It just seems silly to me to have them both on one side.

Just a thought

Because with multiple subs in a room, it's easy to have them interfere with each other by having cancelation effects. The easiest way to avoid it is to have them in the same place.

snippysnappy... I tried that last time that I had the TV out of the room... moved all the other speakers around and played with placement. I really liked the look of symmetry, but in addition to sounding a little thin, with one sub in each front corner, it actually made the bass sound asymetric (sounded like it was actually comming from one side)

My mains handle bass fairly well, and I have some nice crossover options with the B&K receiver so I have my subs crossed over fairly low, with a faster rolloff for them and a smoother rollof on my mains.

Any directional bass is handled by my mains (including surrounds, as those bipolar towers put out pretty amazing bass too!)

All in all, if size doesn't matter, IMHO you can't beat the SVS subs value wise. These things are incredible...

I am pretty sure I want an SVS sub. Do you still think this is a wise decision after purchasing. If so, I definitely think I am going to go with the 25-31 PCi, I am excited about this sub.

That is one nice setup you got there Chromy

Along with your gear, I really like the color layout of the walls and carpet (mine is very similar). Are those panels on the wall acoustical treatments or just there for decoration?

snipsnapsappy - Sorry I missed your question. I love the SVS's and have no plans of replacing them anytime in the near future. Out of all of my gear, I think that these offer the best value... they are simply amazing.

Iguana, the boards are for acoustical treatment, however they are DIY jobbies that I made myself so they don't work very well

I'm in process of doing a major upgrade to the room/system, and those are off the walls now... I will probably bite the bullet and replace them with some of the owens corning panels.

I have re-painted the side walls the same color (but in matte, in a stroke of genius I initially painted them gloss)... the front wall is now flat black, and the ceiling is a darker blue than it was before.

The shelves are like checkmarks... so the end that they look like they could fall off of... well.. they can't. Looking at the picture though, it looks like I probably held them in place... then quickly removed my hand, and snapped the picture.

Nice gear! Out of curiousity, how big is the room that you HT is in? It looks like you have the capacity to fill a pretty big room with sound, but it doesn't look all that big in the pics.

It's not. We squeezed 7 or so people in the room and it was somewhat tight. The room is narrow. I don't have any dimensions but it's NOT a large room, by any means.

Peace...

that is pretty small for the gear in there.

I think the most we had in our house was about 15 for the sci-fi fest we had a while ago. We don't have a very big place (15x20 living room + some included dining room space) so being tight with 7 is pretty small.

The room is ~10x14, and yeah... the gear in there is BIG overkill. It is one of our upstairs spare bedrooms.

I actually want to get smaller speakers in there (need to make room for more subwoofers ). The wife isn't hearing any of that though...

The sick part is that now in that same room I have a 96" diag 16x9 projection screen. As soon as I can figgure out how to take some low-light pictures I'll post those.
