Wow! Thats quite the system tomdkat. Are you eventually planning on going with Pioneer Elites in your surrounds? Geez, are they expensive! Its $3500 for a pair right? That couldn't be the price for just one.

That's an interesting question. I was thinking about getting the TZ-S700s as my surrounds mainly because they are wall-mountable where my current Infinitys are not.

Then I listened to some B&W speakers and was thinking about getting the DS-6 surrounds:

http://www.bwspeakers.com/products/g...1E0000E20E7DA6

Believe it or not, I bought the TZ-F700s on eBay and found a guy about 15 mi away from me who sold them to me for $780 for BOTH! One of them had a non-working subwoofer, which I got fixed (bad IC) for $100 and BOTH subs are online and they sound great!!! I'm VERY happy with the performance of them. I'm not sure what and audiophile would think of them.

The B&W DS-6s seem much better built than the TZ-S700s, which seem a little flimsy. We'll see... I"m not sure what I will do, at this point.

The *big* question is: should I go ALL Pioneer Elite speakers or get the DS-6s and slowly migrate to B&W speakers all around, as money permits....

Hmmm.......

Peace.....

Dang tom, you're sorta the pdjennings of hardware

That's some awesome stuff. I've always loved Pioneer stuff, but can only dream of dipping into the Elite line. Those are the bitchinest looking speakers I've ever seen.

Thanks man.... believe me I jumped all over these speakers, since they were SOOOO cheap (inexpensive). I wish I could afford a Pioneer Elite HDTV.. maybe some day.....

Peace......

I actually LOVE it! The picture quality is EXCELLENT and the stretch modes ROCK! I have Star Wars Episode I on DVD and LD and when I watch the non-anamorphic LD in the TheaterWide 2 stretch mode, the video looks 98% like the anamorphic DVD video (there is *some* cropping on the sides as part of the stretch).

Here are some BAD pics of my 57HX81 in action w/ LD material (GlenGarry, GlenRoss is the LD). The really washed out pic is what ALL of the pics looked like until I brough the color out using the "Levels" function of "The GIMP":

(washed out one)

The only real "issues" with the H81 and HX81 sets are ghosting (which I see MAINLY on cable TV and a *little* on DVDs, sometimes) and the 540p upconversion which some say can cause video performance degredation when a progressive scan DVD player is used. I currently have an interlaced-only player so I can't speak on this myself.

You can see the 50" 50H81 in action here

Overall, I think the H81 and HX81 sets are a great value and highly recommend them to ANYONE. They are NOT DVI capable and Toshiba is NOT planning on supporting the existing sets to developing backward compatible devices to add DVI support to exist sets. So, if DVI support *IS* an issue for you, then wait for the 2002 or 2003 sets which should have it built-in.

I do NOT have a HD receiver as I watch mainly DVDs and LDs on the set.

If you're ever in my area, feel free to drop me a line and you can see if in person...

Peace......

Thanks... Yeah, I know the pictures SUCK! Everything is in my living room, using the length of the room to give max distance between me and the TV. I set about 10 - 12' away from the TV, with the Pioneer Elite speakers on the sides of the TV.

I'll try to take some BETTER pictures of Raiders and post them soon.....

Peace......

Go B&W You might want to go for a pair of DM602-S3's for the rears instead of the DS6 though.

Thanks.... a photographer friend of mine took these pics with his digital camera.

If any of you are in the San Francisco Bay Area and want pics of YOUR HTs taken, send me e-mail and I'll put you in contact with the photographer.

THX + dts = Home Theater Heaven!

Here is a close-up of my Pioneer VSX-24TX receiver in THX Cinema mode with a dts audio signal detected. I believe I used U-571's dts audio track as the dts signal source.

Peace....
