I thought it was time to update my HT thread. Alot has happened since I originally posted this(some of it for the worse)

Where to start...

First off, I sold the Klipsch sub since I had space problems (couldn't find a place for 2 subs).

Second, my HT is in a second story loft, and the original placement wasn't very good. The right speakers were on the same side as the railing of the loft, so there was alot of air for them to disperse sound thru, so it constantly sounded like my right speakers weren't playing at all, or very low. So I moved the HT 90 degrees, so that my back was to the railing. Good move, it instantly sounded better.

Then most recently, disaster struck. I'm not gonna go into the gory details, but my tv stand collapsed and took out my tv, my center channel speaker, left main speaker, and my sub.

I am currently trying to get everything redone. I am now using a 27" Wega, Polk R50 towers (which I must say, are more suited to the big room I'm using), and an old Acoustic Research sub ...which only goes down to 28hz. I have a Polk center channel speaker on order, but until it arrives I'm using an old one I had. Since I was having to do all this rearranging and dismantling I decided to experiment with some old bookshelf speakers as surrounds. Again, the bigger speakers do sound/work better in the bigger room. The Klipsch satellites were great speakers, they just weren't meant for that big of a room.

And to think, I have access to a digital camera, and my original setup is no more...still, I'm gonna go ahead and post some pics of the current setup. I'm not gonna do much spending on the HT till next year, when I plan to get a projector.

Pics are to follow...

This is one of the surrounds. I don't have pics of both sides, cause the other direction has a bunch of junk in the background.

nice looking setup...even if it is temporary I had to do with a 17" monitor and no surround for a while, so don't feel to bad.

When you stup up to projection, are you going to get all new gear, or just the display and speakers?

I'll upgrade everything...

Progressive scan dvd player, new receiver (that decodes DDEx and DTS ES)... the whole works

Fortunately it won't be all at one time. I'll probably get the new dvd player first, then the receiver, and so on. Plus I have till next year to get everything planned, before I start buying.

Haven't gotten that far yet...but I don't think it'd be a stretch to imagine that a Pioneer would be seriously considered.

Where I originally had my equipment placed it did, big time....my right speakers (front and surround) were parallel to a huge opening (loft which opens onto the first floor).

Even now, I have cathedral ceilings, which do play a factor in the sound. So, the sound is messed up some, but not having anything to compare it to, I don't know how much.

I think it is pretty good right now, but I'm under no illusion that it could sound better in a more normal shaped room.
