Jellodyne's *new* and *improved* living room home theater

Just got a new TV (now I just need to _pay_ for it) so here y'all go:

TV: Toshiba 43H71 tabletop rear projection 4:3 HDTV monitor
Cable box: Scientific Atlanta Explorer 3100HD (HDTV! Sweet!)

DVD Player: Sony DVP-S560D (With onboard dd 5.1 decoder)

Receiver: Sony STR-SE391 (with 'Dolby Digital Ready' 5.1 inputs)

Speakers: Center: Sony CV-V130
Mains: Sony SS-V130
Surrounds: Sony SS-V130
Subwoofer: Sony SA-WM40

CD Player: Aiwa XC-37M 5 disc changer

VCR: Dying Mitsubishi of unkown model

Furniture: 2 1/2 sets of Room and Board Matrix modular furniture units in maple wood. Very spouse friendly, lots of room for electronics. Also, the CD shelves visible on the far right are from Room and Board.

Upgrade plans/wishes:
Receiver -> Onkyo TX-SR600 (As soon as I pay off the TV...)
Speakers -> Something better, which is to say nearly anything

It does the squeeze, but it doesn't automatically detect animorphic content. There is a handy 'pic size' button on the remote. Also, it does a 3:2 pulldown, though I suppose it's better to do that in the player since the player can read the flags in the data stream.

The big problem I'm trying to fix is with my set-top box. It would appear that the Scientific-Atlanta Explorer 3100HD only outputs a widescreen image on the component outs. WHich is GREAT for widescreen content, since I can do the squish on it, but unfortunately the other 200 or so channels are windowboxed. Then since the TV is 4:3, to get the shape right I need to letterbox it. I mean, I'm not Joe Sixpack, but I'm not fond of 4" black bars around the entire screen. For now I've got the S-Video (which isn't windowboxed) to view 4:3 content and component for all HDTV (widescreen or not), but if there was a way to get the box to not windowbox, I'd be a happier camper.
