Yea, nice pic of the dogs butt.

Is that a girl on the couch? Can we get a pic of her butt too?

Great set up, all looks good.

Nice setup, I've read good things about the Axiom line.

Two questions, what would you say the Axioms are most sonicaly similar to, and how are you managing the rears? What I mean by managing is, how have you set the db's/delays with the right rear being so much further from the sweetspot than the left rear.

Oh, and nice tv too!

My rear speaker placement issue is worse than you think. My dog ate my remote for the reciever and the universal one I got can not access the menu for it. So, I can not change the speaker settings at all. My old set up had the left speaker being further from the listener, so it has a higher volume as well as being closer. So yes, it sucks, but what can I do. My preference is to sit closer to the right speaker.

And about the axiom's. I can not tell you whta they compare to because I have never heard anything like them. They do not sound gimmicky or airy, like I think most speakers like Definitive, Infinity, or Boston's do. They just sound real. The top of the line center speaker is probably my favorite. When really cool voices are narrating, like on Lord of the Rings, there is just this realistic quality. The speakers really get rid of the bullshit gimmick sound that an unexperienced listener would like and gives reality. Trust me on these they are amazing.

If you ever get the chance to hear dvd audio on these it is a must.
My favorite demo song is Uncle John's Band by the Grateful Dead. It has everything you could ever want. And the lead guitar from the center channel is the most beautiful sound I have ever heard.

I have a new reciever which is supposed to arrive on the 15th.
It is a Denon AVR 2802. I willhave to put up one of my old speakers in the back until I get another Axiom surround speaker. I will post new pics soon.

I have that receiver! Good choice I would reccommend 2 rear speakers though. Since the 2802 is only 6 channels you can either run the speakers in phase and then turn the rear channel level up to compensate for the shared wattage or use a seperate 2 channel amp to power the speakers. I chose the second option. I didn't mind shelling out the extra $ because I plan on moing to all seperates eventually. Or if I end up not needing it in the future I can always find a use for a good 2 x 100w amp. (ive always wanted to use the multizone feature for out on my deck....hmmm)

So if I connected my new amps surround channel into my old amp. A denon AVR 2700, then i would get to have the two back channels. Seems like a little much because my room is only 12'x18' The cheap speaker I am currently using actuall fills up the rear space really well. Also Axiom surrounds are quadpolar so they are able to convey the sense of multitple speakers really well.

Don't you already have a 2802? I'm just reading your original post and I guess I'm confused.

Regardless, I would love an AVR-2802, but my next upgrade probably won't go above a 1803. I would love to hear your comments on this receiver none-the-less.

I used to have a 2700 reciever. I just got the 2802 on Jan 16, 2003. The 2802 was only about $500 online. You should check out sites like www.Etronics.com or www.50topsellers.com before you decide to only get the 1803. Both companies have solid to good customer service. I do not know for sure because everything went fine on my orders there. But the shipping was cheap and fast.

Ah, I didn't see the "Edit" line on your original post. Thanks for the e-tailer advice, however I'd rather go with a Denon Authorized Dealer. And when it comes to servicing my unit I'd much rather have a brick & morter location to bring it to. Granted, with Denon's reputation for quality, one would hope a warranty would be worthless, but when it comes to expensive components, I really don't like to take chances.

I got some new speakers. I recieved three new QS8 speakers from Axiom. I am sending back my Axiom QS4's.
Axiom decided to make tan grills for the maple speakers so I also ordered new grills because the black grills do not match with my decor. The speakers are really beautiful now, I will try to post a photo soon.

VERY VERY NICE! I can't really say too much about the technical stuff, as I'm not a big HT person, but this is one of the most aesthetically pleasing home theatre rooms I've ever posted here. Perhaps a little bit predicatable and yuppieish, but all in all, very nicely done

Now, I must ask, did you or your girlfriend pick out the stuff for that room? (I'm betting your girlfriend, but am highly anticipating the true answer!)

Arigato,
Brook

Predictable and yuppyish, I do not know what that means. I do not know too many 21 year old college students that have home theater setups like mine and own over 400 dvds. But I guess that could be considered predictable for some.
About the stuff, I like to have a good looking room. My girlfrined and I are big fans of IKEA. That is where most of the stuff is from. Except the couch. We picked the stuff out together so it was a mutual thing.

If you think it looks nice in the photos above, wait until you see the speakers with the new tan grills.

Well, by "predictable and yuppieish" I guess I meant that it looks like a promotional photograph taken straight from an expensive catalogue. This, of course, means it's very nice looking, but then again, it also means that it looks exactly like something out of a catalogue ^_^

Anyway, key thing to remember is that it's NICE, and I give you kudos for it.

Arigato,
Brook

Here are the new grills for the fronts. I will take some photos of my new QS8 trio for the surrounds. And I do not have any digital photos of my girlfriends butt but I will let you know that it is very nice.

I have to say that the speakers look WAY BETTER with new grills compared to old ones (at least to me).
