Sidcupmart's Bedroom Theater
Ok, my set-up has been pretty much built around the fact that for the last year or so we've been living at our in-laws. We'll be buying a house in the summer so until then I'm stuck with this, the new place is going to have a nice new basement for all my stuff and I'll probably do a complete over-haul of everything then
TV: Samsung 26" Widescreen HDTV This is relatively new and an upgrade from our old 32" Wega (which my son has gladly taken into his room). It's a great set but not straight out of the box... the geometry was all out of whack so I've spent a time with Avia to get it just right. HD and widescreen - what more could you want! and all for $500. Receiver: Kenwood HTB-205 This will be the first thing to be upgraded. It's good for the money but the lack of a powered sub-woofer hurts it a bit. DTS/DD/Pro-Logic II - it's pretty much got all the bases covered and even though it's low end it does the job for the time being. DVD Player: Liteon LVD-2001 After going through an Oritron, Apex and Cyberhome I finally bit the bullet and paid more than $100 for a player! My main player has to be multi-region and capable of converting PAL->NTSC seeing as it's the only way I can keep in touch with TV from back home (I can't rely on BBC America) so I decided to go with the Liteon for these reasons and the fact that it scales up to 1080i for the HDTV which is real nice. Add to this it pillarboxes 4:3 material for the 16x9 TV and it's pretty much everything I need for the time being. This player is no longer available and was superceded by the 2002 which can do everything apart from the 1080i scaling. Motorola Dual-Tuner DVR High-Definition DCT6412 Love this! How did I ever live without a DVR? I will get some photos up once we are in the new place as I should have our new camera by then, in the meantime I've attached some stock photos stolen from Amazon ![]()

New pics coming soon!
We're in the new place. The basement is a no-go The sellers had told us it was dry until last week after a particularly heavy rainstorm we woke to find 6" of water down there. Good job we hadn't gone ahead and finished it.So, the HT is in the living room and there it will stay. I'll post them soon!

I picked the stand up at Walmart or somewhere years back. It's huge and weighs a TON. EDIT: I actually got the stand from Value City -- $40

So that bottom section (the one sitting forward) came with it? If so, it seems like a great design. And good luck on the tv.... |
