1969camaroboy's home theater pictures!!!

http://www.geocities.com/andrewb773ncc/

Click the link to see my home theater. It is quite modest, but gets the job done for me.... well, usually anyway... I am trying to keep the upgrade bug in check. Be sure and expand to full screen or scroll to the right of each picture or you will miss the descriptions.

Enjoy!!

Not bad for a Chevy owner!

Seriously man, that looks like a great HT!

Now for what I always do....ask questions!

Have you considered letting your center channel "come out of the closet" ? (Sorry, couldn't resist!). I would think it may improve your front stage if it was on the same plane as the FL & FR speakers. Just a thought...

The Sanus rack - does your Pioneer fit ok in that thing? I own a Pioneer too (VSX24-TX) and that puppy is deep. I've found few racks that allow for over 19" of depth (not counting DIY).

And finally, hows-about sharing with us the details on making your own signs?

(PS - you were right.....69's were used in the D.O.H. show - I guess your Dad gets to keep the bike! )

I agree 110%! When you bring the CC lined up with your mains it will improve your soundstage.

Center Channel... yes, I am aware that having the center "sunk" behind the mains is not optimal for at least a couple of reasons, but I personally just like the way it looks Truth be told, the sound in reality doesn't seem to suffer all that much.

Rack- yes the Pioneer fits with room to spare front and back. It is a nice rack for the price. Easily expandable, too.

Signs... I downloaded a set of bitmap images including various styles of Dolby Digital, DTS, THX, etc. I simply just resized them to 8 by 10 inches, and printed them on photo paper with just a regular old HP inkjet printer. I had to use the 1200 maximum DPI setting to make them look decent, though, so it used a LOT of ink. Considering that it used more than half my ink it was not a cost effective as I thought it would be. Anyway.... after printing they are just framed in an 8x10 frame, hung on the wall using mirror hangers.

I can send anyone who wants it the .zip file of bitmaps.

As far as the Dukes, both 68 and 69 were used in reality, so we were both correct one way or another. They mixed and matched parts so much that it can be hard to really tell anyway. Lot of 69's with 68 spare parts, etc.........

Thanks for the comments. The theater has been updated a bit since those pics were made.... still not complete, though. I am in the process of putting up some framed movie posters, and I am going to add retractable curtains to close up the "closet" so to speak when not in use. They will be remote controlled and tied into my X10 system.

I dream of having a theater set up simlar to that some day. Until then, I have to stick to my current set up.

Looks awesome!!

I second (or third) the request for photos of the theater in action.

Haha... I guess its all relative. I do know this.. its nothing compared to the setup I used to have when I had a little more $$$ floating around. Man, back in the day I had Carver and ATI amps, Rotel, Newcastle and Adcom Pre/Pros, a Runco CRT projector, D-VHS deck, Balanced power, killer HTPC, scalers, etc. etc..............

The next equipment upgrade will likely be an external amp... I would like to go with B&K. Maybe I will boot the Pioneer receiver completely and go with a Reference 50 and amp. That would be sweet. I wouldn't be so modest then! Also, hopefully the HD2 DLP projectors will come down in price enough by the end of the year that I can finally dump LCD for good.

Thanks for the comments!

My digital camera really SUCKS at low level shots like this, so keep that in mind as you look at this picture of the setup in action. Gotta get a new camera.

With all of your hardware in the closet and around the corner, does that make controlling them with your remote a pain? I would think that since the IR beam has to turn the corner that it is hard to pause the movie or change the channel. Just a thought.

Overall looks nice. A good use of a spare bedroom. Or is that in the basement?

I see that behind the chairs is a dining room. Are you able to close the door between the two areas? Does light bleed in from the other rooms? Is there a door?

Nice set-up, hopefully when I get a house and the wife lets me, I can create something like that as well.

I use a IR/RF/IR repeater to get the IR signal around that corner.

It used to be a 1 car gargage in the basement. We built a large detached 3 car garage and converted the old one into a bedroom at first, now home theater.

The door does close between the two areas. The room is 100 percent light controlled.

Thanks!

Andrew

You know, I had a feeling it was a converted garage. The block behind the sub made me think of it....that, and the fact I've seen your other pics of the 'real' garage (which doesn't include any MOPARS I might add )

Nice, though I'm only seeing the 1 pic from you're link. It looks like your seating is only 2 meters from the 6 foot screen. I guess theres nothing like front row seats, huh?

The seats are right at 1.5 screen widths, which is about right for a 720p display... I think 1.5 is right along the proper viewing angle by THX specs, too.. in any case, screendoor is invisible at my seating distance.
