Beast Eddie's Home Theater
Well, I've been coming to this site for so long, I figured I'd finally register and share what I got. Thanks for such high quality discussion, I couldn't have build my HT without :-)
For 1.85: https://www.quickbase.com/up/9nyssjz...0Black%201.JPG For 2.35: https://www.quickbase.com/up/9nyssjz...figuration.JPG Enjoy and let me know if you can't see the pictures. The Beast Ed |

Welcome to the boards Beast_Ed
The pics of your crappy Home Theater are coming in clear as a bell . . . . excuse me for a moment Man the room is nice. Why can't i have a room with a big screen like that.Sorry about that. But really nice set up you have going there. I think the only thing really missing is a nice DTS Plaque for the display up front with the Dolby Digital sign. I expect more pics soon of the seating and back surround speakers

Here are a couple other shots I guess :-)
THX / DTS Cert: https://www.quickbase.com/up/9nyssjz...r%20Mounts.JPG Behind the Home Theater Back Wall: https://www.quickbase.com/up/9nyssjz...nts%20Back.JPG This took about 18 hours to build, but I like having flush mounted components and no wires in my room. Well, I have one wire going to the pj of course :-) |

What equipment do you have?

Screen:
Proper Gray paint from Sherwin Williams over an excellent drywall job. This was REALLY tough, I wouldn't recommend doing it. I'd recommend getting tileboard and painting that. Calibrated the color using the set-up disk and POP SNAP i got some serious HD going on. I was TOTALLY blown away by the quality. Guests come into my HT and think I have a 100" plasma screen, they don't even see the projector it fools them every time. The screen is framed with 1x4 wood painted in flat black and then I have optional 2.35 masking boards I hang for movies like Gladiator and Terminator 3 ... sick flicks with great sounds. This week I'll be watching the Lord of the Rings trilogy .. dang, I think it's for real now .... -------------- Components: Amp = Sony Receiver STR DE895 - 6.1 (6 speakers one sub) with 600 Watts per 6 spearkers and a line out for sub - handles, Dolby Digital EX 6.1, DTS, DTS-ES, Sony Cinema Sourround, Neo:6 Modes, good receiver for the money, I really like Sony. DVD Recorder = Panasonic DMR-E55 DVD Player Toshiba SD-4800 CD Player Sony CPD CE405 Decent carousel player for listening to tunes while doing laundry. Not necessary in a home theater, but I already had it so I connected it, why not. High Definition Cable Box Comcast made by Motorola Supports High Definition 1080, 780, 480, and also carrys dolby digital sound, which is awesome on the DISCOVERY channel! CDG Player JVC XL-MV303 Karoake machine basically, but plays anything, holds 3 discs great sound but loading trays are CHEAP-O, I wont be buying JVC again. Sony Tape Deck Had it already, so I connected it. Its just a dual cassette & I like it because I can record the band and other music quite easily then bring it in the car most tapes get destroyed or angrily discarded on tall bridges. Projector - Sanyo PLV-Z1 - UNREAL !! BUY ONE !! I found 'em at BnH for $999 ! What a deal ! Speakers: I have JBL Studio Series in the front L and R .. the tall Tower Speakers. For the center channel, sourrounds, and rear center sourround I have JBL Northridge series. Subwoofer - I went over the top and bought a Velodyne, it has 150Watts and thumps my whole house, no joke. It shakes the pictures upstairs when the Tiger Tanks pull up in Saving Private Ryan. Lots of good sound comes from the construction of the room, which has all acoustical foam insulation and tight tight walls ! No bump, rattle, or shake in this HT ! TV I also bought a 13 TV from Radio Shack to use as a Karoke Monitor. I bought an RCA for $90 or something like that. This is also good for checking the weather channel real quick while doing laundry ... you don't have to boot up the whole HT. |

Very very nice! Thats type of "tight" look is what I'm shooting for in my HT. I've got all the equipment I want, and just moved into a new house with a better suited room, now I just need to work on the asthetics. I've got my electronics in the closet, with the faces, facing me. It was nice to get the wires out of sight, not to mention the heat those things put out(now I need a ventilation system for the closet).
Once I get some paint on the walls, actual home theater seats(man they are comfortable), and some DTS and Dolby plaques, I'll posting some pics here on the forum. I want it looking at least as nice as yours. BTW, you need one of these things: http://store.yahoo.net/moviedecor/dvdmarquees.html

That is an AWESOME room man!
I just so happen to have an extra Keg laying around, and I've yet to see the Lord of the Rings, so......where do you live again? (and if you plan on inviting a 3rd person, let me know, I hate not bringing enough beer) ![]() |
