Cool! Do you watch all of your DVDs on your computer or do you have a TV you use for your regular movie viewing?

Peace...

Yes I(my family) have a 32" Toshiba Cinema Series TV downstairs, be sure to look for "Sycho's Home Cinema" in the next couple days and "Sycho's Music Lounge" will be up in a few minutes.

you're asking that on a dvd forum?

hey, sycho, speaking of that, Dell now sells a 20" 16x10, and 24" 16x10 aspect ratio monitor (the latter is capable of displaying a true full HD image). The 20" is a 17" LCD, just wider (comparing the height of the monitors, that is)...as long as your 5200 has DVI output, it's compatible with both displays.
The 20" is $505 (give or take, the price changes daily), and the 24" hovers around $1000 (which is a steal, considering Samsung's and Apple's 23" is $800 more)

Well this 19"crt has been running widescreen resolutions for over a year, about 2hours/day 6days/week and no visable burnin. This monitor displays 1080i and 1080P perfecally and Dell Canada does not seem to have them on there site yet, besides I'm completely overhauling my truck soon. And my shitty 5200 has DVI.

sycho, true HD is 1920x1280, something your CRT won't be capable of supporting (besides, a VGA connection would have a hard time transmitting that signal...DVI is a necessity). Besides, a DVD is still 720x480, no matter how much you scale it up.

Also, to get burn-in on a colour CRT you'd have to have a high-contrast image on that sceen for 7-10 years - and even then it would be incredibly faint...

btw, here's dell's canadian link to the widescreen monitors:

Yes the monitor can resolve 1920x1080 @ 72Hz, everything is clearly visable and VGA will carry HD signals, try saying that in the CRT forum at AVS. I am aware the a DVD is only 720x480, but thats what wmvhd.com is for.

just to be clear - you're mixing my words up here.
1. i said 1920 x 1280, not 1080.
2. Your CRT can't do 1920x1280. It would explode...
3. Only DVI can send 1920x1280 to a widescreen LCD monitor.
4. I never said VGA couldn't transmit HD. I was specifically talking about widescreen LCD monitors. I'll let the guys at AVS tell you that.
5. wmvhd.com = awesome!!! not. seriously, the imax movies get kinda boring after the 5th time.

no, not 1280 but it can do upto 1200 vertical lines, so it will do 1920x1200

Widescreen LCD's use 1920x1200 not 1920x1280

Did I mention that I'm not the biggest fan of LCD's?

But T2 does not, and the trailers are great.

So the room got an overhaul again, I'll be getting a couch soon, then it will be wicked

So here is just walking into the room:

Got the some computer as above, but dropped the cramped ness and added my older Yammy RX-V493 and some not-so-crappy futureshop speakers, as seen here (with the awesome twisted pixel plugin for WMP):

There is a Yammy HTiB sub hidding behind the left speaker.

The future location of the future couch:

Did I mention that this is my bedroom?
