Unfortunately Zeph', if you want HD Football via Sat, for now...DTV is the ONLY option.

I had the SD DTIVO, and it was nice. I saw why people liked it so much. Problem is, DTV parted ways with TIVO, much like the rest of the providers. Everyone has a DVR now, and none of them use TIVO. DTVs new HDDVR is ok, not as good as the TIVO that we all had. I also hear that Dish has a much better PQ with it's HD channels. If I wasn't locked into a two year contract ( I may be able to get out of it if they don't replace my HR20 soon ) then I would pop the cash for a Dish system. I have no problem with that, and I have had DirecTV for ever

Yeah, i have the 5 LNB dish. The issues that I am having, pixelating on locals, receiver locking up and having to reset it multiple times a day, are reason enough to call them on my contract. When I get home, I am going to request a replacement receiver. If I don't get one, I will cancel my contract for them not providing satisfactory service.

Yes Tivo does what all the others are trying to measure up to. It's the best thing going, and I was ever so spoiled when I was using it. It's just too bad that both DirecTV and Dish don't want to have anything to do with Tivo, and instead are offering their own DVR systems. But I will say that right now Dish has a pretty much glitch free unit, and even though it may not be as user friendly as Tivo, it does do everything it needs to do. And the upcoming HD channels that were announced by DirecTV will also be available on Dish Network as well. Channels like Sci-Fi, FX, Bravo etc.

Re Dish Networks HD channels PQ, you heard right, the PQ on Dish HD is excellent! There's so many great looking programs on that I'm going HD ga ga I have no regrets going dish.

I hope that DirecTV works with you and actually gives you an HD DVR that works the way it should. But if you do decide to switch over to Dish Network I think you'll be happy.

That's a sweet avr! Is there a reason you decided to forego HDMI 1.3?

Just curious.

I don't realy have a need for 1.3, as 1.2A does everything I need. I want to see how well the AVRs with 1.3 perform first.

That and I wanted one REAL BAD

Just depends how dedicated you are

Wife wont let me block out my windows completely either...actually what I wanted to do was put up a movie-esque curtain on a rail to cut off the TV viewing room from the dining room (one large greatroom)...but she wouldnt for t
