Home Theatre Changes

Ok I'm not sure where this should go but I am going to start it here. If it needs to be moved then so it be.

If you have a home theatre (duh) what would you do different? Would you change the decor, equipment, construction, design, etc. You get the meaning so chime in.

I assume you mean if I could design my own room. I'll leave equipment out, as the sky would be the limit with no price talk(or if you like, I'll take whatever Lucas has in the screening room at the Skywalker ranch). I've always wanted to build one, and may get the chance soon. I'd prewire it for 16.2 speaker surround(in case), have plenty of attic space for easy wire running in the future and design the room as I go, so that NOTHING rattles no matter how much bass is being pumped.

I'd also have tiered seating, for up to 8 or 9 people. Room dimensions would be something like 17x24, with a 10ft ceiling so I can have a 160in screen. And good airflow to the room for Chrissake! Two HT rooms so far, and they both get stuffy real easy. The equipment would be out of the room, accessible by a panel in the back of the room. Not sure about decor, but I've always been a fan of red and black. Also I want a lobby of sorts outside the room, or a game room/lobby, where the DVDs, posters and memorabilia could go.

We don't have a dedicated HT room yet, so there is nothing to change. Otherwise, I'm happy with the equipment that we have now, aside from the display. The only thing I intend to upgrade is the subwoofer, possibly with a Rythmik Audio 15" Servo kit (http://www.rythmikaudio.com/servo_product.htm), but I'm very happy with what we have at the moment. The receiver may see an upgrade at some point, should the lack of HDMI, DVI, etc... become an issue. The biggest thing I'm outright missing... a popcorn machine!

This sounds like a good topic for "Your Home Theater."

I'll move it there...

First thing I would do, is build a 24X36 room to house it all in. I would pick up two Barco Graphics 1209 9" CRT Projectors. Screen would be a 144" perf screen to mount the center behind it. During construction, I would run the wire for 11 speakers, three up front, two speakers per surround. Those speakers would be either M&K THX Ultra, or Paradigm Reference. Subs would be replaced with SVS 16-46 PCi subs.

Since Money is no object in this dream, I would pick up an Anthem Statement, or Macintosh pre with Mac or Krell monoblock amps for each speaker. Depending on the room, I would have 9, 12, or 16 reclining love seats for seating. Toshiba HDA-1 for source, along with my HTPC and HD DTivo. I would find an ATSC Modulator to convert my HD DTivo to channel 14.1 and pipe it into my HTPC via an ATSC tuner card. It might me cheeper to find a comp. vid in card for my HTPC tho. I would use my HDDVDR/RW to burn my HD Content to dics for archival purposes.

I know I am forgetting something, so I will update when I remember
