And now, the Plissken Home Theater 2.0

And now, The Plissken Home Theater

And here it is, I've found a way to host the images, resizing would take all day, so I didn't, sorry about that. This room now features a DVD shelf I built myself, which is 7ft tall, and 10ft wide! It was put together inside the room, only then did I realize... It can never leave this room intact.

Their hard to spot, but please read the captions for all the pics!

Equipment:

Video:
Barco G808 CRT projector
120' 16:9 Da-Lite perm wall screen

Audio:
Fronts, Klipsch RF-7's
Surrounds, RS-7's
Center, RC-7
Back surrounds, Pinnacle AC-650's(too cheap to spend another $500+ on speakers that are barely heard)
Subwoofer, SVS PB12 Plus/2

Components:
Denon 3805 reciever
Toshiba HD-A1 HD-DVD player (now primary DVD player)
Oppo 971H (secondary region free/DIVX player)
HD Tivo HR10-250
Xbox 360

View from the main/my seating position.

Overall

Another view

View from the screen. Believe it or not, thats a full size couch, and very comfy!

My beloved new Berkline theater seats

Another view of the HT seats. Also, I built those consoles netween the seats myself, using formica on the tops. Really pround of these!

View of the new DVD shelf

The TV and music DVDs

The HD-DVDs

The HT components are now neatly hidden inside of the closet!

View of the components in the closet

My subwoofer

Geekdom

And now a little something that just screams HT PIMP! Makes popcorn that tastes just like movie theater popcorn.

There ya have it!

What's changing? Can I ask that or is it a surprise?

Astheticly for the most part, quite a bit. Question is, do I photograph the speakers with or without grills? I keep the grills on, but their so cool without!

I like it sleek, so I say grills on.

Klipsch speakers must be nekkid! If you want to replace them I'll gibabysit them until you want them back. I hear PH has some Techs that are great.

Sorry guys I couldn't resist.

I wish I could hear those speakers I bet they are primo. Looking forward to the pics.

Oh I think I've found the speakers to last me at least a decade more, but thanks for the offer EM3. Haven't heard anything I've liked more, except maybe for the 8ft tall speakers at a small HT place, a pair of which cost as much as my DVD collection(didn't even bother to enquire about the brand). Sounds like they'll be clothed, and 'nekkid' again.

4 Things:

1. Love the seats! Very nice!

2. Love the popcorn maker!

3. Looks like you and I have the same dust problem.

4. I forgot how big that CRT PJ was!

God I know, the dust is eternal! There's no way to get rid of it. That popcorn maker is 5ft tall btw! Forgot to mention that.

Also I got new higher end lenses for the projector, the image is now clearer than ever, and color corrected!

Primo setup! I've looked at those photo's about 10 times now. I keep wondering how you mounted that crt? Nice woodworking by the way.

That would be 4 grown men hold it over their heads in tears as another tried to slip it into the track on the ceiling, very scary. And thank you.

Beautiful setup! Is the couch on a raised platform, or does it sit with an obstructed view behind the nice leather chairs? I think you did a great job, and the "Now Playing" thing was a nice touch, and of course, so was the popcorn maker.

Ah yes, forgot to mention, the couch is on a 12' riser which I built as well. Still need to carpet it, which is why it's not prominent in the pics. Yeah I saw the popcorn machine at Sams and couldn't resist!

Got mine at Sams for $199. Their online site says, it's an online only item, but mine had three of them in stock. Also got a 50lb bag of seeds(it was all they had ). Plus Costco has them for $229 I believe. It's made by Helman Group, normally popcorn machines like it cost $800+, so the price is amazing. Not hard to clean at all, just heat water in the kettle for 15 min, dump it into a bowl, and it's clean, and that steams up the glass so you can wipe it down with a dry paper towel, cleans nicely. I'm now a popcorn freak, stuff tastes sooo good. Oh, only use Coconut oil!

It also has a drawer on the bottom to catch the unpopped seeds.

I thought it was on risers, but I couldn't necessarily tell from the pictures. There is something about freshly popped popcorn that doesn't come from a microwave. The great smell, and just the sound of it popping. Reminds me of when we used to do it with the kernels in that little popper that had the scoop lid that dropped the popcorn in a bowl. Except I'm sure yours tastes better.

I also liked the little end tables you have between the chairs. It really is an amazing home theater. Not to mention the cool library you have of both SD and HD-DVD movies.

Hey Pliss,

Do you have specs on how you built your seating riser?

As a matter of fact, yes. The blue is the half step(consists of 1x6 boards), and red are 1x12s. Top is MDF, slightly lighter than plywood and durable.

I guess you didn't have any extra left over carpet for the riser?

Not a jab, just wondering.

Actually we haven't done the carpet yet, that'll be in a couple of weeks or so, then we'll carpet it as well.

Plissken,

Are those Hatori Hanzo swords I saw next to the popcorn maker?

Guess I missed this question. They are indeed Hanzo swords, got Bills(demon engraved on the blade), Budd's(To my brother Bud, the only man I ever Loved engraved) and the Brides(lion engraved). Bill's sword is signed by David Carradine!
