Sam's Home Theater!

I've been wanting to post something like this for a while, but i've been pretty busy with school. Keep in mind that this is in a college dorm room (I've already signed a lease for my new apartment with a lot more space for next year, hehe).

Old System:

JVC 27" Flat CRT TV
Phillips DVD player
Logitech Z-5500s

So here are some of the specs of my mid-level system:

Hitachi F1F59 RP-CRT HDTV
Toshiba HD-A1 HD DVD Player
Onkyo HT-S790 Sound System

Right now, the sound system is just being set in place (I just got it today, but my cables and wires that I ordered from monoprice were delayed). So tomorrow i'll have everything up and running.

Right now I have some money saved, but mainly for some HD DVDs. I'm up to like 21 right now. I was going to upgrade all the speakers but i'll save that for over the summer.

Thanks!

Yep...it looks awesome Sam! Congrats!

So what's up with the 4x4's, 2x4's and 2x6's? Why is all that there? Support issues? Don't mean to be nosey but while it looks good it seems out of place with the rest of the apartment shown in the photos.

Just curious.

Haha it's no problem. We are in a very small dorm room so in order to conserve space we built a loft (it's very sturdy). Our third roommate lives on top of that while I live on one of the bunks. I can't wait to get out of here. We have a nice apartment leased already but 7 more months til we move in.

Just cut all the speaker cable and set everything up. Getting a component rack for my birthday (hopefully). Too bad that won't really fit until the new place!

Thanks again for the comments! More pics soon!

Very nice! *jealous* We had a loft as well, which put both beds up high, leaving the whole floor open for things like the desks and fold-a-fu... er dorm provided sofa-bed. All we had was my 19" RCA TV that I bought with paper route money at 12 years old, a Fisher component system from 1986, and my roommates VCR.

That system got me into enough trouble though. 15s baby! Oh yeah!

I think it's clever how you used that article of clothing to cover up your pr0n titles.

Nice setup for such a small space. It was a very nice way to get a home theater in your dorm room. It'll be even better when you hook up the surround speakers too.

Funny you should mention the mighty mouse, hehe. I usually have a good 2-3 weeks where the thing works fine. But the ball gets all gunked up every once in a while (and I try to clean it and it eventually works) but it seems to happen quite a bit.

Otherwise I really like it, and the macbook

ok, this is what i do with my non downwards scrolling mighty mouse.

take a peice of paper towel, then put it on you leg while sitting down, place the mouse upside down so that the ball is on the paper towel, then just move the mouse around on your leg for a few minutes. You can try on a table or something, but that never worked as good for me...

Ok, here are some pics of my new speakers. Well, speaker. The other one shipped out the same day and was basically going here but somehow it didn't show up with the other today. Oh well, will hook them up tomorrow.

Enjoy Iggy
