re-assembled...
Hello.
I see that many have moved into new homes and so have I... I bought a house a few months ago and after three weeks, my theatre/studio is settled at least. The room itself is about 14x17 but that would be including a 'hallway'. i thought 15' of shelving would solve the catalogue issues, but i didn't, but they're deep enough to hold two rows... and despite how it looks in the picture this is NOT a crowded or cluttered room! "We can re-build it, better then before"
Looks good! At first I didn't think your fronts were even and it was going to bother me, but I see you have the sub behind it. Can this interfere with the effectiveness of the front because of the bass?

em3: thanks... and that's not all of it either!
sub780lime: i wasn't sure about that either, but i don't hear any variations between the left and right speakers -- if you look at the right side, the wall extrudes a little bit more, so i guess the sub behind the left sits perfectly aligned and it sounds fine... but here's another question -- should the sub be firing against the wall?? |

Experiment with the sub firing against the wall just be sure to pull it out from the wall about 3 inches. Some people like it that way. I had mine turned that way.
I never did get into vinyl but I did have a few 45's. Any classic rock in that collection like Zepplin, Pink Floyd, Beatles etc? I'm impressed. There is a poster on Klipsch forum trying to sell his vinyl collection.

Depends on whats on the other side of that wall. Personally my bass still travels, but it is down firing. I dont know a lot about D-box, but I am pretty sure theirs fires out. I always think they should put the connections on the sides of front firing subs so they dont look so bad if you face them toward the wall. I would say try the wall facing. I have liked my bass that way in other situations.

sub780lime: i actually had it pointing that way in the old place, to a chimney. i don't think the wall behind is concrete, so we'll see... but i did change the position of the sub and i'll let you know how that goes.
i'm gonna try cleaning up the wiring, but some of that is from the previous owners satellite and wiring for speakers upstairs... i should just get rid of that stuff... i'll also try bi-wiring/amping the fronts... em3: nothing like that... most of it is electronic, including entire LABEL catalogues! rock: nine inch nails, the sounds, mogwai, kings of convenience, the arcade fire... that sorta thing... |

looking at all that, I was thinking, you must live alone, my wife would never let me have my equipment and cables everywhere like that.
for you. for me.

sub780lime: its split with my brother, and he has his own setup upstairs... those pics make it look like a complete mess, but its hidden and it looks really clean. i had a girl just walk in, sit infront of the plasma and say "i could live here". took awhile before she noticed that nice little rug was there to cover up the mess of cables
iguana man: thanks! i don't really do any listening through headphones, excluding the iPod (i record my vinyl to CD and mp3s). the sony ones are for dj'ing. the shure ones are for the iPod... i should also note that i do buy some things in both formats... |
