Am I Crazy?

Okay, so this really is the questions. I had this idea to make our home theater, which is housed in a living room, a little more secluded and provide a little more protection from ambient light. That idea was to put a motorized running along the ceiling from next to the entry way opening to the back wall by the kitchen. I have include a little image that might help someone better understand what I mean. I would use a split curtain with a two directional motor so half will go next to Media Nice, and half would be by the rear speaker. When open, I would tie the curtain off with some big theater-esque rope, but when viewing movies I would close the curtain to offer more of a theater feel to the whole expereince. So, am I crazy? My wife seems to think so. A couple friends have told me so. What do you think?

Curtains are always a good idea. Nothing adds to the ambience of a theatre like some big gaudy curtains. When I eventually get my scope screen, I plan on getting motorized curtains.

So, no, you’re not crazy.

So that whole side to the left of the seating area (left when sitting down) is open to the next room? From a HT, I think that would be cool and certainly not crazy, but I can see where there would be some apprehension in a day to day living area. There's no way my wife would go for that in the living room (family room in our case), and she's very lenient. Of course, if you have a separate formal living room, things should be easier as far as convincing others.

On the other hand, the other options that come to mind are perhaps "crazier" and/or considerably more involved.

Yep, its a great room, so on one side is the family (theater) room and on the other is the dining room. The kitchen is of the dining room side and has a sliding glass door leading to a courtyard. The courtyard is through the windows you see in my photo. I will try and take some pictures of the whole space.
