a bit premature but...my system

A bit premature as my surrounds haven't been installed yet and so have no pictures...though most of my equipment just arrived and I had to tell someone.

Monitor
Qualia 006 70" SXRD rear projection

Receiver
Pioneer Elite VSX-94TXH

Sources
XBox 360 with HD-DVD addon
Scientific Atlanta HD Set Top Box
my dual format player whenever the hell Samsung gets off their ass

Center Speaker
Jamo C80Cen

L & R Front Speakers
Jamo C809s

L & R Surrounds
Jamo C803 in walls x4 that are currently still in the boxes but once they get installed I'll take pictures

Sub
Jamo (I see a pattern here) C80Sub

Cables
I don't know, mostly HDMI crap except component and optical from the 360 to the pioneer

I feel better now, thanks for listening.

I've been here a while, yeah, but my knowledge in all things dvd isn't quite what everyone else's is so I mostly just search. Here is a picture I took with my cellphone initially. It's missing my center channel. Instead there is a small Jamo A30Cen until the C80Cen came in. You'll notice it just under the screen. My sub is off to the left next to the fireplace.

Oh, I guess you'll notice something under the cable box. That's some samsung upconverting dvd player I've had for a couple years. Sorry I'm not home to take close ups....but when the in walls are put in ceiling I'll take pictures all over the place. The C80Cen is sitting where the xbox currently is and the xbox is on top of the cable box right now.

Well I'm hoping in the next few weeks. I just have to have my AV guy come over and put in my surrounds and it's set. Made an appointment with him, so here's hoping. There are a couple of boston acoustics in the ceiling already which I'm using in the meantime...the same as the ones you can see up on the wall behind the TV. I'm sure I'll have a lot more questions once everything is up and running but that's what this forum is for.

clubsi,

Sweet setup! The Sony Qualia 70 inch is an excellent TV. Sony's SXRD technology is amazing! I know I'm sure loving my Sony 70 XBR2!

Thanks for sharing and I'm looking forward to the pix.

And what is that white thing up gainst the wall on the right? Air cleaner?

I would have to say the 809s are very balanced and smooth. Very resonant (strong and deep). Haven't really listened to them much yet, can only really give them a workout when my wife is not around. I would say the detail is very good, maybe just slightly lacking in the higher frequencies but I'm a beginner so I barely notice. If I had one word to decribe them, I would say powerful.

Oh yeah, that white thing is an air humidifier. My wife's new to Phoenix weather, she feels as though her skin is sluffing off due to the dryness here.

Thanks! Did you compare them to other speakers first? If so, which ones?

Sorry, I like asking these kinds of questions.

Well, a little more of an update. I nixed the c803iw as my surrounds and opted for some dipoles. The jamo 10k4.5 in ceiling...which have finally been installed. I also decided that the c80sub didn't quite cut it and went with the Velodyne SPL-1200R. Definetly a better sub, with tighter bass and less distortion when pushed. Although now I have my eye on a Velodyne DD18 but we'll see.

My center channel bit the dust, don't know what happened, just stopped working so I'm in the process of ordering a new and have put the A30cen back up.

I added the Toshiba HD-XA2 as I got tired of waiting for the new dual format players to come out....and I wanted to take advantage of the new audio codecs....

I did try polk before choosing the jamos for my fronts. The sound was pretty equivalent but the Jamos had the "what's that?" factor and I got a good deal on them.

Pictures to follow....

So here is the the finished product. Until I decide I need something more...

The surrounds I finally decided on are the Jamo 10.5k4 4 way speakers with the 10" woofer per speaker. I was thinking about dipoles, but I guess the directional speaker sounded somehow better to me...and with my higher than average ceilings (13 feeet) I wanted a bigger/more powerful in ceiling solution.

I'm extremely pleased with my Velodyne SPL-1200R. It plays big, but is small enough for my wife not to complain too much. I'm thinking about the JL Audio Fathom 113....but for now this little guy is definetly holding its own.

Using the HD-XA2 because of its fantastic video...much better than the 360 addon I was using...and also because of its ability to bitstream all the audio to my Pioneer 94TXH. Was hopoing the Samsung dual format player was gonna be able to do this, but sadly not as of this post.

The viewing distance is approximately 9.5 feet. That's my kitchen in the background...it's kind of a great room setup. Dimensions are 22 feet by 26 feet. 13 foot ceilings. Big opening to the rest of the house to the left side...

The Jamo's and the Velodyne do a great job of filling up the space, at least to my ears.

Oh yeah, Call of Duty 4 rocks ass!!!!
