That is a nice sized living room Dave! Plenty of room for adding larger speakers and dare I say....a projector screen? Don't get me wrong, it's really nice as is but when I saw that wall behind the TV, my first thought was PJ!

Thank you very much! I understand your idea about the projector. But I like to re-arrange my room, and with a projector its more of a stationary item. Thats why my original plan was to get a TV stand where I can hang my tv on a pole so it fills in the wall, without hanging it on the wall, and the fear of damaging the wall and tv. The only thing that is stopping me fromm getting it is the price....$300.00!
Here is the stand I had in mind: Last edited by DakotaDave : 01-19-2008 at 07:02 PM. |

The stand we have is an $80.00 Sauder from Wal-Mart. We really didnt have that much money to buy the stand. My wife is the bread winner in the house since I am disabled an only get a minimal amount for disability. The TV and DVD player we won at in a raffle, so we didnt really spend anything but the price of the tickets for them. So $300 is a lot of money for us with our income.

they all seem to be in that range. It's a shame too since many times you can buy a TV and one of these nicer stands is thrown in... free. Makes you wonder just how much your TV is worth or the stand! ![]() (And I stress....the stand) |

Sweet setup! How do you like the Phillips system?
But I have a question for you regard your LCD picture quality. Are the blacks really black of are the greyish. I only ask because my parents just bought a smaller and cheaper LCD and I never could get blacks to be really dark. I own a DLP and so do my in laws.

Thanks, The Philips system is ok; the only problem I have with it is sometimes i have to restart the disk to play, or I have to take the disk out and move it around a bit and then it will play. The 5.1 is awesome though.
The blacks are black. Very good! |

Hmmm I have no idea then. It seems like years ago I read that cd player lasers should be cleaned after each 10hrs of use but it could be faulty memory.
Good luck with it.

Still possible you put a disc in there that had a little something on it and it got stuck on the laser somehow....
Nice setup. You have plenty of room to expand into something bigger when you can.
