Dts 5.1 Bd

My PS3 is hooked up to my plasma with HDMI and my Yahmaha DTS receiver is hooked up to my plasma with an optical cable. Why can't I get DTS working on BDs?

You also need your PS3 connected to the receiver with an Optical cable (or HDMI if available for higher DTS-HDMA tracks) right now its only set for sending a Dolby signal to the receiver for your tv programs.

Going through your TV, you are probably only passing 2ch PCM. Most TVs are not capable of passing through bitstream codecs. AFAIK, the only way bitstream comes from the TV is from the internal tuner Dolby Digital.

You can purchase it, why you are thinking that you can't purchase it. it depends on you that you want to purchase it than you can purchase it otherwise it is your choice.

X2. I have a Yamaha RX-V1300 and have it connected directly to my Panasonic BD35 via optical and it works just fine. As pointed out above, the only time most TVs send a 5.1 signal over optical at all is if you are watching OTA (Over the Air) signals and the TVs internal tuner decodes the signal.

Edit: Ah crap. Didn't look at the date. Damn post digging spammer BS.
